Movies that have been prohibited from making sequels

. . . Of course, it could be worse: like that one movie that never really ended and, concurrently, NEEDS a sequel.
If you don't know about this one already . . .
Eragon is the movie that's currently on my mind. Just finished the 1st book, over half way through the 2nd book, and I went and saw Eragon at the $1 movies at the mall. After I left, my sister said she liked it, and I was trying to figure out if it was even about the same character. Special effects were pretty solid, but not Eragon. Sister's now reading the book, and about half way through she stated she hated the movie.

I understand that movies aren't going to be identical to the books due to length. Just because I like 3hr movies (Hell, I'm spending $10 for the movie, I want my money's worth!) doesn't mean the rest of the world can sit through a 3hr movie. But c'mon, leaving out huge plot points is just retarded. It's a wonder the author doesn't kill themselves after they see their movie being butchered.

I have to agree with the book-->movie crapfest. An old movie just got me with this recently. I buy old hard-cover copies of classic kids' books for my kids, some first editions and stuff. I mainly just go to the "antiques" section or w/e at Half-price books. I got an old "Winnie-the-Pooh," "The Reluctant Dragon," a copy of "Pinnochio" from 1939. Cool stuff.

Well, I got "Bambi" for them and I read it. I was amazed at what a great book it was. It was all about mortality and the transitory nature of life and all. There was even a 2 page chapter that was a conversation between two leaves at the onset at fall and it was a really sad and true discussion of our understanding of death and the uncertainty of what happens to the soul.

Cue the "Bambi" DVD my kids got for a birthday. Those leaves make it into the movie, for 2 seconds before they blow away.

Honestly, I don't even know what that movie is about. Bambi's dad is barely present. Bambi gets shot, but instead of laying low and getting stronger, he amazingly gets right up and runs off. I think he even fights a pack of dogs with a bullet in him. I was just flabbergasted.
