Okay, I'm a nerd and think this type of stuff is really cool.
If you don't know, giant squid up until last year had never been seen alive. In the last few years one biologist captured baby giant squid, but they all died in the first few days of captivity. Last year a biologist from Japan figured out that sperm whales off the southern coast of Japan were feeding off a large population of giant squid. He was able to get the first still photos of a living giant squid after a lot of hard work.

Pretty interesting imo. Especially since they've been written about so much and appear in a lot of fictional literature and were even considered to be mythological many years ago.
