  • The Fantastic Music Machine!

This is totally awesome. A guy at my dad's work forwarded it to him and now, I forward it to you.

    Enjoy music created by engineers.

This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of Engineering at the University of Iowa . Amazingly, 97% of the machine components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft Iowa . yes farm equipment!

It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment, calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see it was WELL worth the effort.

It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian.

    Have a GREAT holiday.

If the link doesn't work let me know and I'll try to fix it. Also if there is a better way to show it let me know.

    Enjoy! =^.^=

      Re: The Fantastic Music Machine!

Isn't it just amazing that in the beginning all of those balls are coming out of the tubes, bounce off two rods, hit a drum, and go into the tube like that? Not just that, but that every single ball goes into a tube?

Plus the music was pretty catchy. I guess some graduate projects are more fun than others.

Heh, I bet it was frustrating though, I bet there were alot of balls flying everywhere for their first test run

It's a fantastic bit of CGI, and great music too. I just wish that something like that could really be built. Thanks for the link .
I have heard that those who celebrate life
walk safely amongst the wild animals.
When they go into battle, they remain unharmed,
the animals find no place to attack them
and weapons are unable to harm them.
Why? Because they find no place for death in them.

              /blush

No, no I did not realise that this was cgi.

That would explain why all the balls go into a tube.......

Gah I'm so embarrased now It's still pretty cool, more info can be found here:
