  • You've got to be super desperate for a PS3...

...if you are willing to actually bid $1 shy of $100 million for a $600 video game console. O_O
Almost four years experience playing FFXI. I am a Raccoon, not a Hyena--despite my name states I am one.

Get creative and pretend these happened.

It's Non Paying Bidder's or Shill Bidding, but anyways auction prices in japan dropped very quickly. Someone was shill bidding in japan prelaunch to drive up hype.

LOL... He doesn't even have the thing... He's selling a pre-order. He put a $100 deposit down and is selling the rights to a pre-order. Any dingus can get a pre-order... you just walk into the store and ask for the item--they distribute as they get them in stock. In fact, you're usually not guaranteed to get the item on the release date (I had this problem with a vendor and ToAU). Even if it was a non-schill thing, it would be a retarded purchase because you might not actually get the item until well after the release date in which case you've wasted all that extra money you paid for an item you could've pre-ordered yourself (through a website even) on the same day you purchased it from this wing nut. It's a gamble... A very expensive gamble.

In-hand merchandise is the way to go even though I would never... ever... buy something in this manner. It's foolishness and wasteful. Little Jimmy can wait 6 months to play Raptor Dan the Mustard Man for the extra $1000 bucks which I could use to buy another PS3 and double copies of games so when Sally wants to play Barbie Princess Unicorn Rangers, they don't fight over it and destroy their grossly inflated $2000 gaming system. ^^

On the other hand... If I could purchase such a system for a meager $20 (and have it not be a fake or get screwed which is highly probable considering the nature of the market), I'd be all for it--even with shipping.

The only time I will buy the PS3 is when FFXIII xomes out on it, by then priceas should have dropped a bit and the hype warn down. Its stupid what people will pay for them just to please their brats who are all I want I want I want.

As for this guy, well the winner has only bid on little items to get his rating up ranging from $0.01-9.99. the auction would be void.

people have flooded the market. the average seems about $1000 now, with a lot going closer to $700. there are about 50 auctions that were going when I started this reply but ended while I was typing it. The PS3 search on eBay has 23,000+ results right now.
