    Re: The great Thanksgiving Debate

How about sweet potatoe pie? :D

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.

Cut up a butternut squash into cubes, a little honey, a little cinnamon, bake it for a bit, comes out real nice.

Hey that sounds good! I think I'll like to try that.

Someone in my family makes usually makes both of those for Thanksgiving, and I so wish I could eat them. They smell freekin' wonderful, but for whatever reason, the taste and texture makes me ill.

Thank the gods for the green bean casserole.

I love all of the thanksgiving food. I cant eat ham or any pork though. I have a pork allergy... sad but true (how does that happen to a girl with southern roots? )
I love stuffing, mashed potatoes, and i usually make a creamed cauliflower dish to. I really like all of the sweets. During the rest of the year i pick at food but during the holidays i pig out, and end up feeling sick for a few days. I wouldnt have it any other way though

My Family has been doing this for as long as I can remember. It's so easy to make that you just put it on and go do other things and come back after five hours and eat. It can be so helpful if the day before was nuts, because you can relax. Eat it with some left over stuffing or make some rolls to go along with it.

How about regular cranberries vs. canned cranberry?

I personally like the canned stuff because it's shaped like the can and easy to slice.

Can't really think of anyplace near me that sells cranberries, so I prefer the canned foodstuffs.

Real cranberries are pretty freaking awesome, but there's nothing wrong with the stuff in a can. It's an American tradition!

99.9% of the time I'd rather have the real thing, or since I'm assuming you mean a cranberry sauce, I'd rather make my own. I also like to cook, so I'm a bit more inclined to go with the make it yourself approach.

The stuff that comes in a can never tastes as good as fresh foods, and alot of times people will add sweeteners to things which I really dislike. It also seems sometimes hard to find tart things that are not sweetened, like cranberries for instance, I want to taste the food, and not the sugar/sweetener.

Makes me think of cranberry scones, I LOVE a good cranberry scone that hasn't had sugar added to it, they have a nice tart flavor without being too sour.
