    Re: The great Thanksgiving Debate

    {Yes.}

    Nothing like a real Ham & Turkey sam'ich the day later. Nice big cut of ham and turkey, throw some stuffing on it for good measure, and listen to the button on your jeans scream. lol

    I used to not be such a big fan of Turkey, and it just turned out people didn't know how to cook the thing. Nothing like a bird so damn dry that it sucks all the moisture out of your mouth. Finally found somebody who knows how to prepare the bird, and I'm a turkey fan all of a sudden.

    I thought Goose and Lamb were more Christmas traditions, but goose is pretty good most any time. I've only had Lamb once (For Christmas, I guess it's a Spanish tradition.) and it was pretty good.

    I've also found that Chili for Thanksgiving dinner is pretty good too!

      Re: The great Thanksgiving Debate

      I thought that was for Christmas dinner.
      Nah, Christmas dinner is stuffed mushrooms, a nice roast, some other stuff, and maybe blinzes (sp?) for dessert :D

      I can't remember what all we used to do, sadly we haven't done a big Christmas dinner in awhile, and we haven't done a big Thanksgiving dinner for awhile either. Most of the family has moved away making it hard to get together.

      That and we got rid of the geese >;.;<

      I miss the geese, they were tasty!

      EDIT:

      I've only had Lamb once (For Christmas, I guess it's a Spanish tradition.) and it was pretty good.
      Oh yeah, we also do leg of lamb sometimes too. We live on a small farm with sheep and ducks/chickens, used to have geese too, but mom wanted to get rid of the geese ; ;

      You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

      I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.

          Between ham and Turkey. I perfer ham if I had to choose between one or the other by itself but we make a nice Turkey noodle soup the day after, so I would have to go with Turkey.

          Just buy some egg noodles and some turkey broth(brand up to personal choice, or use any if left over from yesterday) from the store mix that with left over turkey and let it simmer for about five to six hours to thickin and you got some good food there.

          I also love stuffing. The key is a good sausage, we go to a local family owned place thats been in business for like 70 years and buy from them. It beats the stuff any supermarket sells. Also I perfer the use of a honey wheat bread in my stuffing. A cheap white bread will work tho.

            Translated into real, you like giraffe, stuffed with cat, accented with reptillian gravy...

            wow -shudder- the cat is bad enough without the gravy

              Actually, cooking the oyster stuffing in a turkey is fine, and gives the dark meat a pleasing complex flavor. Although I don't prefer oyster stuffing.

              If I eat oysters I prefer they be straight from the shell. If I have to cook them (say, I have squeamish guests), about the only way I can enjoy them is tempura fried.

              Freyr nailed it for me. Sausage dressing made with whole wheat bread and chicken stock.

                    Definately Turkey. If it isn't a bird, then the ritual sacrifice that makes Thanksgiving feel special just isn't the same.

                        We did this last year too. Was so thick it wasn't even soup any more, had to call it Turkey Stew, but damn if it wasn't good as hell. We had so much of it, it took 3 people like 3 or 4 days to eat all of it! lol Can't exactly do that with a Ham, but I do love me a good Ham. ^^

                              Turkey with Herbal stuffing cooked overnight at 300-350. Fill the pan 3/4 with water and the meat falls off the bones when you remove it. Yum btw Turkey much better.

                                I never really saw the point of thanksgiving.
                                Do you guys just sit around and eat a big dinner, celebrating the fact you stole your country from a bunch of Cherokee indians who had nothing but a few bows and arrows?
