This is a big waste of a sword imo ; ; It is cool however, that the sword actually cuts through some of the bullets before getting blown away(swords>>>gunz btw) such a big gun is used too, a little bit of overkill. @_@ But nice find Jei +_+

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

Impressive. It took seven bullets to finally take that sword down, and even then, it still managed to shatter that last bullet, even as the blade was flying away. That's the kind of sword a master swordsmith could be proud of.

Stupidest comments on that video, EVER.

thats awesome my friend has a sword that sharp.he said he had a three inch thick metal pipe and all he did was drop on the pipe and it sliced right thru
Thats not really anything special. A bullet is just a lump of lead... you can do the same thing with an axe blade. I give more props to the marksman for hitting the blade square than the swordsmith.
humans have the ability to catch bullets in their hands but i havent heard of anyone doing it in over 20 years. 20 yrs ago like 10 people could catch bullets. they trained their whole lifes on being fast. but they had to meditate for awhile and focus. also they never stood in front of the bullet. they stood to the side and reached out and grabbed it. but their dead and this generation is too lazy to train that hard.
Come on, let's watch some more Macaroni Kenshin and pretend we know a lot about swords!

2nd was the water jet cutter, set to maximize its cutting power. It cut through the sword's guard (the circle plate-kind thing in between the grip and the balde), but it couldn't cut the blade itself.

This show is famous for doing whatever it takes, I repeat, whatever it takes to get the results they seek. There once was a question raised as to exactly how many petals (yes petals, not flowers) a tree of cherry blossoms bears. They isolated one tree w/ meshed net before it bears flowers, monitor the tree 24/7 so nobody or nothing takes even 1 petal, collect any and all the petals as they fall, put them on the paper sheets 1 by 1 to come up w/ the exact count, and double check after all the petals fell to see if there are any remainings, and then finally, come up w/ the count.

And don't worry, this is only one of many similarly efforted tests they've done.

Actually, the sword they used is arguably the "average" nihonto.

It was made by the smith Kuzan Oda, who's alive as we speak. Granted, he's possibly one of the best nihonto smiths alive today, but it was ordered to be the "average" nihonto for the fairness of the tests. More acurately, it was made w/ the target price of 900,000JPY (roughly US$8,000) in mind, arguably the average price for nihonto these days.

As you might know, nihonto is famous for its stiffness and shape. To me, it's not that hard to believe.

Whoah I'd love to have one of those, what are the exporting restrictions for them? I think I heard you can't buy one if you are gonna take it outside Japan.

The price isn't much (8000 USD), I always thought they would be more expensive, but for now I guess I'll have to settle for my good old carbon shinai.
