Guys and gals, I need to play devils advocote here...

Different religeons have hated each over since the year dot. Current states of issue in todays society is driving the already known divide further apart. IF they are going to be an dick and refuse to take you because you so happened to beleive in something different, they are being racist towards you. This in any 1st world country can be classed as a offense depending on your laws stature. In the Uk you would have a case if you were bothered to go through all the polava. Its a thing the media love to jump on.

The problem is extreemists like that, and I mean extreemists, as normal people from different religeons are not like that its just the fascists and extreemists who take it to far, like this cab driver. Don't start thinking of the whole religeon as bad just because one individual was, this unfortunately is how alot of people are thinking at the moment on both sides of the coin with the now common muslim christian relationship with extreemists on both sides causing the problems, with the others who get on fine being dragged into it.

If the cab driver is going to be like that, hes lost a fare, just because you are from a different religeon and he reufuses to take you, how many americans are your religeon and if he refuses to take people who may ware a cross, a skullcap, Kurta, Turban etc. just because they don't symbolise his religeon but of others, he ain't going to get fares, no fares = no money to feed his family and keep a roof over their heads.

The worst thing we can do in this forum is start vigilantisising about a culture just because of one or a small group of members did some questionable things.

We are all produced by the same chemicals etc, just a few changes on the DNA scale of colour, facial form, body size etc. Beleive in what you want to beleive in, just don't force your belief on other people or reject someone for their own belief.

I do agree with you but by singling out some individuals by race, religion, handicap they are forcing their belief on you because you refuse to partake in their belief. Simple as that and i honestly i for one will not stand for it I was not asking for a non-muslim driver i just wanted to get home and the driver do his job. Honestly if muslims are going to this extreme should they really be behind the wheel? I know in MN Bus drivers are subjected to lots of customer service training and behind the wheel training. to make your ride friendly but safe. Cab companies in the last 6 years have neglected to sponsor any of their drivers to these classes offered freely by the state of MN. They get hired with lil or none driving background at all...i think thats sad...lil history also from MN. For a long time the jamacian popultion ran the cab comanies. But when Muslims started moving into th e states companies looked at the masses and started hiring them. MN has the highest population of muslim, samali, Hmung among the other states. I don't know why...theres nothin but beer and cold weather here in MN...a total opposite of their country...This whole ordeal is a huge incoveinence in my eyes.

I think bringing religion to the workplace is like commiting suicide by jumping of a bridge to a busy highway below...You get my point.

True, however, nobody can prove that ghosts do not exist, yet it is widely accepted that ghosts don't exist even though many "true stories" about ghosts were told in the past when superstition was widespread (and still are in some parts of the world).

That is why I see all religion as superstition that for some reason hasn't died out yet. The religions of today probably will die out sooner or later, just like the religions of ancient Egypt and Greece, just to name a couple, however, when that happens, I believe there won't be new religions to replace them this time.

A taxi driver who denies service based on any kind of discrimination should have their license revoked, period. Public services should never be subjected to personal belief, and that goes way beyond religion, race, or anything else.

The fact that these taxi drivers are from a particular religion changes nothing, simply because any other reason for an unjustified denial of service should be treated the exact same way.

Sorry to hear about your incident. As much racism as I've experienced, or seen, acts like this still surprise me at times.

I work for a transportation company in Ann Arbor, MI. Bulk of our business is taxi cab business, but we have a government contract for transporting ADA (American Disability Act) and Seniors passengers. Every one of our drivers goes through a training program that includes Sensitivity training. Seems kind of odd, but you'd be surprised how many newly hired drivers don't make it past this part of the training. People who seem to think that all ADA riders are "retarded." I've heard stories from people who have taken the class, and the woman who teaches it, of people who have piped up saying they wouldn't allow retards in their cab. They were promptly removed from the room and the company.

Now, the company I work for is one of a number of cab companies in the area. Another company shares a small portion of the government contract we have for ADA and Senior riders, but our company is the only one in the area who regularly drug screens drivers (If at all.), or requires the sensitivity training.

Ann Arbor is about 30 to 45 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport, and about an hour from "downtown" Detroit. One of our divisions does handle a lot of pick ups at the airport, and I've heard stories of some of the drivers there. Our cab drivers are trained to put the best foot forward, and be kind and respectful to the customer, but amoungst themselves is another story. They've adopted a few monickers for the some of the cab drivers at the airport. "Iraqi Cab," "Punjab Cab," and others. But I hear they are very agressive with getting passengers INTO their vehicles, not descriminating and turning your business away.

Now if they are the ONLY cab services you can higher at the airport, then denying customers may not really hurt them. But in a competitive market, turning away a passengers puts them in somebody else's cab. Most cab drivers don't make an hourly wage, so if they're not running fares they're either not making money, or are losing money. (Most cab companies charge their drivers a lease for the day, and make them pay milage.)

Don’t mean to piss anyone off but please don’t ruin this board. I have been on many forums that went to hell because you talk about religion.


But my view of religion is it is to control people and keep people united. I have my own beliefs but it is not a religion it is a way of life. I don’t need to read a torah or bible to know if i am a bad person or good person.

It’s all common sense. To follow a book that say's you are a sinner if you do that is BS.

I have a friend that is gay he came out of the closet and told his mom. His mom is a crazy religious person and kicked him out of her house and disowned him because has gay. She was so brain washed over a religion that she turned her back on her own flesh and blood. If anything is a sin from this story it is the mother not gay son.




also if u want to know I am gay and I am so tired of people telling me i am a sinner I am not a sinner I have no choice of who I am. It is genetic if I had a choice I would be straight so I can marry, have kids, and be a 1st class citizen not a 2nd. But I do not have a choice.


ok back to topic of what the poster said is screwed up to be felt that way but step in a gay man or women’s shoes and see how people look at you an treat you.

Actually, it is quite illegal according to Federal Law with regards to discrimination against "Race, Creed, Religion, Sex, etc."

This means that, by and large, the taxi companies in Minnesota that tolerate and practice this form of discrimination should not be allowed to operate at all and should not be allowed in the future for as long as our Federal Goverment recognizes the rights and freedom of individuals in this country.

I'm straight and i love it. I have a wife and a son and another daughter or son on the way. My brother was gay. He came out of the closet to me first and my family. I embraced him. My family embraced him. My mom and dad are part of the worship leadership at a evangelical free church in MN. They embraced him aside his "feelings".

on a last note...start making choices in your life. only you can tell yourself what to do. Don't let anyone tell you how to live your life.

Thoris, just so you know, if you don't want to start a big religious riot or anything, then it would probably be better to not call the Koran and Bible B.S. Good chance people will take offense to that.

As for your friend's mom. That was wrong. The Bible teaches compassion and loving the sinner, hating the sin. By the way, we're all sinners, its something you live with and continually work on. Oh, and being a sinner doesn't make you a bad person.
I just ask if you choose to ask to be treated like an individual and not because you have made the same choice as others, then please understand that what your friend's mom is not necessarily representative of all Christians. She made a poor choice, and it was a choice that is definately not a Christian one.
