Re: 9/11 Rememberance
The whole point of the thing is that it's a media spectacle. The only reason a lot of people, corporations, and politicians even care if you remember is because they want to prey upon your emotions. The easiest way to manipulate people is to tug at the corners of their eyes and strike deep within their hearts. They use empathy to control and exploit you. Personally, I think we'd be better off if more people stopped caring and forgot about the whole thing, as callous as that sounds. Just turn 9/11 into another excuse to get a day off work, grill out, and drink beer. I suppose that might seem a bit "different" to you folks who aren't used to getting trashed at funerals, but some of you might get it (My family does intoxication, food, and fire...)
$$$ - bow down.
Anything that can be exploited for a buck will be--you just have to realize that it doesn't matter. Dead people are dead. Yes, surely tragic, but only because they all died at the same time and someone else is responsible. More people die yearly because of drunk drivers, but we don't hunt them down and blow up their friends, families, and their worldly possessions, then lock them away in a secret prison and torture them until they're totally insane.
If you're going to make a special place in your heart for 9/11 why don't you remember all the friggin' people that got blown away by the Tsunami? How about all those poor children in the hospital with Leukemia? How come they don't get a special friggin' day, huh? You only care because they want you to so you'll buy stupid flags and sanction the murder of innocent civilians of other countries.
[EDIT: Add]
I just want to make sure you know this is not a flame. I just get fired up about the exploitation of the living using the voices of the dead who cannot speak for themselves. Any one who was personally involved in it has a special reason and just cause for their rememberance.
