DO NOT FIGHT CRABS WITH A BLUE MAGE.

Let that sink in for a while. Crabs and Blue mages just don't match. Think of a Blue Mage like a dick. You don't want crabs around him. I mean, i've been called a dick so often, why not just pretend i am one? Keep Crabs away from me.

Here follows a list of all my problems:







These things nerf damage. On colibris (IT++) i pull 220-260 mandi bites. On crabs? I'm lucky to break 100. On normal monsters, my DoT counts. I hit for 40 a hit, very fast. It helps a lot. On crabs, it's all 0-20. Suck.


Stop fighting these things.

People like Crabs because aside from their defence, they don't have much to speak for.

Personally I hate crabs because they can be harder to chain than other crap and are fairly easy to kill, but whatever. It's not like I can change the universal partying laws.

As much as I completely agree with you, EXP Vs. Crabs sucks for most DD jobs, in all fairness your damage Vs. Colibris is a little lopsided.

I call Colibri's "Squishies." They take hits like Taru BLMs. (No offense guys!) As DRK Vs those same Crabs I was doing about 65 to 85, with a very few 90+s mixed in. Vorpal Scythe (Which sucks BTW) did 100 to 200dmg. That's at Lv.58 with 300 base Atk, and then adding Berserk.

Moved to the Squishies, and I'm doing 100 to 150dmg. (Scythe, Great Sword, with or with out Berserk) Vorpal Scythe, which still sucks, is usually 250dmg plus. (I had one VERY rare 640dmg Vorpal Scythe. Must have had a Double Crit. fire off on it or something.)

So you're going from PLD type Crabs to sissy type Colibris. So their DEF has a drastic difference. Only problem is that you will be EXP'n off of Crabs a lot in the 50's and the low 60's. So enjoy!

Eh?

Sneak Attack + (insert 1 hit physical spell of appropriate choice) here still tears up crabs like any other enemy as long as they haven't put up Shell Guard.

I had a BLU in an XP party tear up Steelshells in Boyahda Tree. Blue mages do fine against them, and if you think otherwise, then maybe you need to rethink how you're playing your blue mage.
