I use ebay frequently to buy games, sometimes I've been scammed but its all a learning process. As the others have said, always check the sellers reputation. You get some real jerks sellers on there, a friend of mine bought ffxi and her codes didnt work. Figures. But then I bought another copy of ffxi for her and asked the guy to just email me the codes after auction, he was really helpful etc etc so you get prettty awesome sellers as well.

As well as checking their reputation percentage and the number of feedback I always read a few of their latest feedback. Especially if there's been negative feedback.

yea. i only really nuy from companies or people with very high positive feedback, and i only buy new. If i buy used i save a few dollars, but there is a chance it is ruined. And i've only been scammed once. I sent a money order and they got it and disappeared, good thing it was only $10.

Great replies so far and thank you for the tips, definitely going to try to buy a few things. Maybe I'll start off just buying a few low priced items then move up from there. I was kinda surprised though that people would boost the shipping price and try to get ya there.
