    Save the Internet!

    Hey everyone,

    I never post in this section but I felt it was worth it.

    I have recently came across this. What it is is ISP's are lobbying Congress to have it so the internet can be considered a Private Network. If this happens it would allow them to deny/slow/restrict access to any sites that basicly are against them, or direct you more towards places that would help them that they own.

    Please I urge anyone to look at this. And please to Sign the Petitions Right to your Represenatives, Write to local Newspapers also.

        Yeah, I actually got the same thing sent to me by eBay, HP Techs, and multiple other Internet places I've registered too. Definatly supporting it, I mean damn if they get their way it'll just about kill every single free source website. Not only that but at a money side it means they could charge the people that access the Internet as well as charging a site for them to allow it on their ISP.

        This is just flat out NUTS!! Which ever money hungry jack***** that though to do this should have to run through a gulliotine of angry people with spiked clubs. If they survive that then stand infront of a firing squade and executed, if they happen to survive that, the tossed into the mortuary incinerator.

        Seriously I know corporations can be greedy but this is just really low!

                    If [when] networking companies start introducing their tiered ineternet service (non-neutral networking), living outside the US isn't going to save you if the packets you're sending/receiving have to cross one of their routers.

                    So not only are you nearly powerless to influence the outcome, but you'll get to reap all the consequences of a non-neutral networked internet.

                    Might be good to motivate any of American friends you have to say something to their representative.

                        Yeah, then you also think about the sites that it could effect. Take any hot sites that customers would want an ISP can offer it at a 'premium' for the customers that want it. It seems like it has potential to destroy sites like wikipedia, youtube, myspace, and others along those type.

                        Heck if they had that kind of control even a site like this could be at risk depending how greedy they are, and as far as I know greed really has no limits. They'll speak with a snake charmer's tounge to assure you nothing changes while all the while everything you know collapses around you.

                        Sad but I know an old fart who's probably estatic that corporations will be destroying such a powerful knowledge and marketing source. An ex-military guy that believes the Internet should remained for military use only. Tae Kwon Do training and pateince paid off a LOT there because I blow a gasket on that remark. Then again also probably refrained myself because the whole respect elders and he was a higher belt then I, so even being an old fart he'd probably could of beaten me.

                          Making the internet a private network is like trying to fence in the ocean, or contain air and charge a dime per breath. It'll never work and everyone who tries will get run over by the vast majority that does not support it.

                            As long as the vast majority doesn't think "Someone else will be doing so I don't have too" if they do then we have a problem. Such example of that possiblity:
