I play to relax, i play to unwind. I play to get away from the hardships of "real life". games have always been my way of relaxing and enjoying my free time.
Why do i continue to play after over a year on the same game? Personal goals - All zm, done, 75, done, 100 craft and CoP missing still. But i mainly play for friends. The comunity spirit that FF has, the spirit of your linkshell, i find days when i cant be bothered doing anything, yet i still log in and watch my moogle spin talking to folk for hours. As long as i have friends i talk to each day in FF i will always log in, when all my friends leave, then its my time to leave.

I play because I like the community and social aspect of the game. I like the storyline (from what I've seen of CoP and rank missions and even individual quests), I like the fact that nothing is handed to you and you need to work for everything you attain. I actually stopped playing FFXI for a while when most of my LS migrated to WoW, and hated the fact that everything was so easy and really lacked the community feel of FFXI.
Every time I've tried to really put reasons to it I come up a little short. Sometimes it's the challenge, and the feeling of accomplishment. Sometimes it's the way Vana'diel is presented. Sometimes it's Taru-tarus. Sometimes it's wanting to see more of the story. Sometimes it's all the different jobs. Sometimes it's just because I don't feel like doing any of my other hobbies.
But anytime I try to say that any of those things (other than sense-of-accomplishment addiction) is why I play, I feel like I'm being dishonest or leaving something out.
Ellipses on Fenrir There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.
