Wow, talk about liberal, south-bashing sterotypes. I'll have you know I grew up in the Carolinas. I am a white male, age 18-35.

Do I own a gun? No.
Do I have a confederate flag? No.
Do I believe in the safety and lives of my fellow Americans on and off the battlefield? You're damn right I do.

A very large portion of your troops are southern, because we love our country. I'll tell you right now, the south is just as torn on the Bush administration as any other part of the country, because it's our children, our parents, our brothers and sisters dying in these far off places.

Personally, I loved Bill Clinton. He was an extremely intelligent man who did his job right and enjoyed BJs.

If you want to pile all southerners into your jaded, egocentric stereotype, remember what Ron White said - "Next time you have a thought, let it go."

I'm from Pennsylvania. We have rednecks, skin-heads, and KKK members up here in York. Probably more-so than near the city where you live. In fact, I got a lot of crap up here when I moved, because I'm Roman Catholic, and not Protestant (the "religion of choice" up here). I've been called a "Nigger Lover", a "Papist", etc...... Once I had a knife pulled out on me by one of those skinhead pricks. Anyways, I know that not all the South is redneck. I lived the majority of my life in the South. But I still do know that there is a TON of open racism, and segregation still going on in the South. It's even rampant in parts up here in the North. Am I saying there's not any intelligent, well-read people in the South? HELL NO. I consider myself to be a Southerner, and to be intelligent and well-read. But with my experience of living in the South, there are a lot of redneck people. And I would say you're in the minority. You seem to be a lot more intelligent than a lot of people I've met from the Carolinas, and I've been there a lot. (My Grandmother lives there, so I've had some time to interact with people there. And trust me, it's not easy being white with some black features, people always ask questions -_-)

It's really not geographical at all. I grew up in rural Florida, hating the local "redneck" population, then moved to New York City... and I learned something very important. Stupid, ignorant, hateful people are universal. In fact, the sleaze element in NYC is exactly like the good ol' boys from my home town. They talk funny, act like stringing two thoughts together would actually cause them physical pain, hate gays, black people, and immigrants... the only difference is the accent.

Whenever people are lazy of thought, you start to see this behavior.

It is actually very geographic (compare a majority of California to, lets say, Georgia). Then compare the social boundaries within those states, e.g. cities to rurals. What is popular consensus on nearly everything changes between these "zones." Nonetheless, extreme stereotypes are flying back and forth from people who have had no experience in that area (pro-AID liberals and the racist-rednecked conservatives), where in truth there is nobody that would really fall under that category (or a very small percentage). It certainly doesn't mean that ALL of a certain geographic area is that particular way, as you have differing communities within communities.

In the end, I guess I'm trying to get the message out that don't prejudge people simply because they fall under a certain political/social group. Just because I'm a liberal and Democrat does not mean I plan on going out and voting on a presidential candidate simplly because he/she shares the same political party. If the opponent is a Republican/Green/Independent, I would check what they plan to do for the country and see if it is similiar to what I want to see in the future of the U.S. I won't even go as so far as to claim Bush to being a bad president (he just happened to be the president at the time of 9/11), and he did what he believed was best for the country that I wouldn't necessarily agree with

This, and many other subjects are becoming fair game for complete influential saturation by the typical entertainment programs. How many times a day do I have to hear about how pot isn't as bad as alcohol, and as long as casual sex is protected, there's nothing wrong with it? Certain sitcoms represent this in a very influential manner towards our young people, but the last racist I've seen on TV was Archie Bunker. (And didn't he live in New York?)

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone here. Just saying, racism isn't the only prejudice. For every hardworking, racist redneck, there's a idea-forcing hippy douchebag. And everyone who doesn't agree with them is a facist Nazi.

And there it is. Seriously, why is it ok to be racist against white people, but not against minorities? If all racism is bad, then why do we tolerate it under some circumstances, but not others?
Carlos Mencia said it best, if there's a place where you can't tell a joke b/c it might offend someone listening, then you should never tell that joke to anyone again. Honestly, 99% of racism and prejudice against me doesn't bother me. I consider myself something of a redneck and all the jokes I've seen here so far are funny.

Yes, for the record, I don't believe too many people are like Bush. American's aren't ignorant, over-indulgant (Yes, many of use are heavy set, but most of the time, those people are either workaholics and eat fast food the majority of their meals, or very lazy....again, not the vast majority of the United States.)

About the racism for comedy, I'm definitely okay with that. The reason we laugh about stereotypes, is because there's always truth to some of them. While it's not okay to generalize, there ARE people like that. The thing I don't like, is some people tend to take this too far and end up seeing everybody as that stereotype when they do one of the actions that come with that stereotype.
