Thoughts on Alla

At the NA PC release of FFXI, at first, like almot everyone else I knew I was a newbie. It was my first MMO. It was one of the first times I had branced out from my FPS self. After searching the internet for a useful site i stumbled accross ffxi.allakhazam.com. It was largely free of the oh-so-familiar trolls everyone deals with, it had information a newbie player needed, and was a valuable resource. Whether i was looking up information, or just amazing myself at high level items i would likely never get, it was useful. After a while i switched to WoW to be a sell out. Throughout my WoW career i used allakhazam for information. Refusing to use thotbot because of the RMT it supported. RMT, that i had grown to hate after just playing two MMOs. I continued to use allakhazam. Now that i have returned to ffxi, Allakhazam was my base of information for the same reasons i originally used it. But now, after they have announced an association with RMT, and I feel betrayed. I had used Allakhazam during a time when i could have easily used another site. Why? because they did not use RMT. Why? because they were a kind community. But now, i have found a new community that offers the same things allakhazam did, and I wont look back. There wont be any turning around. anyway, [rant: off]

You are off the site already. 100s of FFXI players in KI and here always thought Alla was a horrible place to be, welcome to the club.

Uuuh, i like alla alot, it had the best comunity imo, but that has since changed because the merger made alot of people leave

The forums have absolutely collapsed. We already have an admitted gilbuyer rated up to decent, another about how evil christians are, and this is all on the FFXI forum. This is what happens when all the decent posters go on strike...

Its nice to see active mods here (Jei). I too am returing soon and alla was my source as well, its taken a few days to adjust but Im really starting to like it here. So from one ffxionline newbie to another /welcome!

Well I was a bit trolling there before I left, now many of my posts are rated down, some were deleted by admins. for eg. that one topic where I quoted what Allakhazam said about IGE year ago. I think It was hurting his feelings.

Suprisingly all real trolling posts were left intact only those where I used logical arguments and pointed out hipocrisy are rated down.

Allakhazam community turned from anti RMT to pro very fast. I think many MMORPG devs. may change their minds about RMT and officially include it in future games as result of how easy Alla community accepted it. If players don't care why devs. should, they can milk us instead of IGE.
