Signs it’s been too long since you partied with a paladin

White mage: Knowing the tank doesn’t have any shadows, you very, very, VERY carefully make sure to keep his hp in the white at all times. Then you wonder why he keeps getting angry at you

Summoner: You notice that someone keeps firing off really big cures when small ones would have been enough to keep the tank alive. You watch, and it happens again… and again. just as the tank’s hp goes yellow, someone shoots off the biggest cure they have. Finally, you decide to give this n00b a piece of your mind, and you chew out the paladin for wasting so much mp

Warrior: every time you see the tank get hit, you instinctively provoke

Monk: you wonder why you’re not the tank for the second half of every fight

Ranger: believing that pulling hate is a sign of a good DD, you are unsure how to adjust to this new patch. You try and try and try, but no matter how much you damage the mob, you just can’t pull hate and die. Finally, you start to act crazy. You pull with barrage and fire your weaponskills at the start of the fight instead of waiting till the end. Still you don’t die. You freaked out the paladin, but he managed to keep you alive. Broken hearted and believing you have failed the party, you disband and log out. You contemplate quitting.

Ninja: you wonder why your invite rate has suddenly gone down.

Red mage: (aside perhaps from the ranger) you are the only one who DOESN’T like this change. It gives you yet another person to refresh…

Well, I mean, that update was nifty, but NIN are still better for most endgame stuff.

          You forgot black mage.

Black mage: You still instinctively stun or bind the mob after your MB. You think you're not as lagging cause your stuns stop the mob before it even has a chance to run at you after MB. You stop stunning mob after MB since it doesn't have an interest in you. You pile on your +INT gear you can't use with a NIN, and start nuking more than just on MB. You feel happy again.

Admittedly, this is why I'm so fond of NIN tanks. My ideal would be NIN, DRK, WAR, BLM. And I usually roll with a SMN.

It's not that I dislike PLDs, just those 5MP user Parties can get to ya. I've also noticed a completely different attitude between NIN & PLD tanks, but PLDs need more than NINs do. So that may be it.

I love PLDs when I melee though! ^^ I static with a PLD for my WAR, he does a damn good job. And I can go crazy, like Skillchain with a THF, and have the THF SATA Viper Bite on me and never take any damage!

dragoon: you're still so amazed you can finally get invites, you don't even notice the difference

samurai: you have forgotten how to skillchain with a 1h sword. you have (Blade: Rin) >>>(tachi: enpi) = (distortion) macro'd and have to change it. After you change the macro, you instinctively hit it at the start of every party anyway...

as my thief, i have always prefered a ninja tank, because when we have a paladin, i always feel useless. Not that i AM useless, mind you. Every paladin i have ever pt'd with has always appreciated me planting extra hate on him, but i felt useless because i always felt he could hold hate just fine without me.

of course, a tank is a tank. i never really minded whether i had a paladin or a ninja. either is fine if i get exp. i always invited whatever was seeking.

when i played white mage, i felt the same way about the ninja. with a ninja tank, i never felt *needed,* because i felt a red mage/summoner/whatever healer would have been more useful than me. Not that i ever felt totally useless, but when you go through whole complete battles without ever having to cast a single cure (just regen on the tank) makes you get a little bored after it happens again and again for two hours of xp'ing.

again, i always joined any workable pt. i never said "pld only because with a ninja tank i get bored," xp is xp.

when i played ranger, i always prefered a paladin. i can act more freely when i know if i pull a little too much hate, the tank can get it back if he wants. Ninjas, however, made the battles more interesting...

a tank is a tank. is a tank is a tank is a tank.

I disagree with the Sam one. We'll always remember Savage Blade and... Uh... What's the Darkness one?
