  • I declare jihad on FFXI

At 6:01 pm est time in the middle of camping Behemoth spawn I was sent to GM jail.

The gm explained to me the reason I was there was for a tos violation. I asked what I had done, and I was told that due to my use of language towards a player in the game I was getting my account flagged. Now I thought back..what language did I use? And to what player, I was just talking to people and being normal...
I asked the GM what I had done..and his response?
"you used curse words in a shout".
The shout in question? me singing the lyrics to a rap song cause other people were typing in song lyrics too.
I almost got banned for THAT.
I told the GM "have you been to jeuno? that place is a like a sailor on shore leave"
The GM of course goes "you violated the tos for profanity"
I replied "isn't there a filter? if they didn't want to hear song lyrics with the f-bomb in it, they should keep that on."
and the GM goes "you can't cuss. you have any more questions before I send you back to your Hp?"
    now...HOLD UP..
    BACK TO MY HP?!?!
apparently I can't be sent back to behemoth's domain..AND I lose the npc I had up and my wyvern I just called...
thank you GMs for being so cooperative ><
    assholes.

luckily he sent me a email explaining what I had done wrong and where in the tos I had violated.

someone please explain how song lyrics harass, tormet, intimidate, pester, obstruct, or take advantage of anyone...
    this whole thing is bogus.
I have been nothing but a faithful player of FFXI for nearly 2 1/2 years. I have never been put in GM jail nor seeeen people put in jail for swearing...
    and this happens.

    I DECLARE JIHAD ON FFXI

And finally, to the prepubesant pimply little boy who sent me to jail for the lyrics to a song. This next part is directed at you..
and you better listen, cause this will be the last time a girl will ever talk to you...
I will find out who you are. then I'll really give you a reason to call a GM.

I'd name names over rap lyrics.

Re: I declare jihad on FFXI

why would you want to shout the lyrics if it contains curse words? doesn't matter where it comes from, bad words are still bad words. you're not gonna get away saying it's a song.

JadeNightshade, you have been flagged for a good reason, and being sent back to your HP is noral standerd rules. You had cussing in the song you where "singing" in Jeuno, and someone was offended, and you where sent to jail to talk to the GM.

Leasson learned to day? Stop being anoying in shout chat.

            Galkan Sausage? rofl!

Seriously, GM's should not be called for some so... petty. There is a filter button. They should be using it they think it was un-appropriate. Maybe the rap lyrics intimidated that person from discussing issues with other people? I'm sorry to say so, but I feel that rap music does not promote society nor does it place women in high regard. Maybe that was actually a girl that was offended by the use of your profanity? Some people are offended by such use of words and explicited lyrics.

What song were you singing and what were the lyrics to it?

Because theres an option to filter out "Foul language", then turn it on if it offends you. And if "Foul language" is even against the tos , why even have to option to let you see it or not, have it not show period. wouldnt be a problem

Re: I declare jihad on FFXI

This is what they call the GM CALL GAME on Hades. Essentially, what you do is try to get someone in the act of breaking ToS and then call the GM. If you can get the GM to answer that call as soon as possible, the better your chances to getting someone you don't like banned from the game.

I've lost two friends because of this. Basically what it comes down to is if you've made enemies in competing HNMLS or in any other part of the game. They don't like you for some reason. The moment you cuss -- even just once -- and they'll bring drama down on how they were hurt and emotionally scarred for life. The lies and stories these "victims" tell to the GM range from drama to unholy dishonesty that could send them to hell in the next life.

All I can say, Kerrigan, is you got f-cked. Royally f-cked. If I were you, I'd watch your back every minute of the game, because someone has it in for you. It seems like you're involved way over your head with end game, so this is of course within possibility.

To everyone else, all I can say is that while this is just a game, unfortunately there are jerkwads playing the game alongside with you. The seven sins run rampant in this game on the social side especially in end-game drama and it's up to you who you decide should be friends and enemies.

I'm glad I don't have to deal with this kind of crap ... yet.

Re: I declare jihad on FFXI

You know there is no need to shout the f word, if you do want to swear do it in your linkshell or party, just don't shout it for the world to hear, and you shouldn't get any trouble. Yes they are song lyrics. Somebody using the f-word on their music album is different to ingame shouting. You have seen a lot more swearing ingame - do you know these people weren't sent to jail also? You have no way to tell, just remember offensive words do cause offence, so don't shout them. If someone reports you, the GM's responsibility is to resolve the issue. If what they reported you for was accurate, the GM should take action. Anything else is negligence on the GM's part. This was your fault for swearing and getting reported. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime ^^

                          I'm not even going to address that one. <.<;;

But, yeah, Kerrigan, you got screwed. People curse, harrass, tell dirty jokes, etc. on Jeuno in my server, hell, I've been guilty of doing so several times, and I've never seen a GM called on anyone.

I find the GM on this game to be one of the downsides. I've reported plenty of people for cursing and harrassing, and just have the GM tell me to /blacklist to solve the problem. Him coming down on you like that for saying "fuck" is pretty ridiculous.

heh wow, I would not defend anyone who is stupid enuff to over us cuss words in shout chat, its ok to let one out here and there, but to use them way to much is stupid, if someone was cussing at me repetedly I would call a GM on them myself.
