They're all powerful and prestigious names. Nothing common, but nothing outlandish. Also, we refused to name them after someone we knew, like relatives long lost or famous people.

Please, in the name of everything that is holy, do not name them thinking they will perpetually be 6 years old. It seems like more and more people are giving their kids names like Tommy, Billy, Joey, Princess, etc. Note: Not Thomas, William, and Joseph, but actually naming them after the nicknames. It will just make them sound immature and less than smart. I'd also have to recommend against "creative spellings". You may want your child's name to be "different", but you're really only making yourself look less intelligent.

Just finished reading Freakonomics, really good book btw. Talks about how much names matter and such. Tells a true story about two brothers, one named Winner, the other named Loser. Loser is now a Sargeant with the New York Police Department. Winner is a long time member of the New York penal system.

LOL My daughters first pick for a name was Cole. I don't know but I just thought that was a name that would he would be teased a lot over. Then they came up with Jamey and that was it! I sat them down, talked to them about the different stages of the childs life and a name that could benefit all of them. Daddy was none too happy with me! LOL He was dead set against Vincent but I prevailed! Vinny when he's little (maybe), Vince when he's a bit older, and Vincent is a very distinguished mature name for a successful man. Always think of ALL the stages of your childs life and also if the name might get him beaten up! LOL

Yup, I have to thank my parents. Chris when i was young, still Chris now, though I do go by my last name to some people, then maybe Christopher when I get my MD.
Like I said, I think people get into the mindset of a "cute name for a baby" and forget that they have to grow up.

Ofcourse there's always the urban legends of Shithead (pronounced shuh-theed) or the twin brothers Orangejello and Lemonjello.
Or the ever brilliant parent who thought the hospital had named her child for her. So the girl's name was Female (pronounced Fem-ahl-lee).

My brother and I are twins, so I'm sure our parents had a hard time coming up with good names-- They ended up with Corwin and Cameron (my name's Corwin as you might tell), which are both gaelic derivitives of my dad's name, Kevin. My name is also taken from a series of fantasy / sci fi books in which the protagonist's name is Corwin. Nice to read a book written about yourself xD.

The only thing that kinda sucks in the slightest is that everyone in my immediate family has a hard C / K sound name. Corwin, Cameron, Carol, Kevin. o.o;

Great names though, I love my parents for my name. xD

Lol, an ex-coworker had a family member that his actual name is Jughead. Met him in a company picknick, good guy but boy does he hate his name.

Then I also know two other names people were given:

Nosmo King (get it! NoSmo king , wonder if he grew up a smoker >.>)
Placenta (Poor girl must of been mortified when she heard her name in Health Ed)

lol. this may be hard to believe, but a friend of mine was rummaging through his yearbook, and found a peer by the name of Harry Olsac. God, if I were him, I would change my name for the sake of mankind

My friend named his kid Reuben after a band he liked. Its a nice name but I dont know if Id have been happy to know I was named after my dads favourite band. LoL!
I hope your sister has a good birth and Im sure when the time comes she'll come up with some brilliant names
Im going to go for Isobelle or Katie-Louise for a girl and Thomas or Shota for a boy WHEN I have kids!
