Yeah I read this earlier. Sad thing is this happens all the time. I remember one that happened some time last year except the woman didn't survive. All I can say is give that pyscho the chair!

Yes the woman that sliced and diced the pregnant woman has 3 children of her own. My husband brought up his disbelief of how this woman could do that especially having kids of her own. This is what I told him:

Many women when they hit their mid 30's have the urge to have a child whether they have one or not. (She is 38 I believe.) In fact, a woman that has other children that are out of that cute baby/toddler stage will have a stronger urge to have a child. Often times the urge is illogical and at some point many realize this. But for some women there is no stopping this strong biological urge to have a child.

I am not condoning what this woman did by no means, but I can understand the urge she was feeling. I'm sure that it's seated much deeper than just her biological clock ticking. I know she must have had emotional issues. Possibly the fear of her partner leaving her if she didn't concieve or the addiction to the satisfaction of getting a lot of attention while pregnant and after the birth of the baby. It's really hard to say without knowing her history but combining the biological urge with her mental state, I can see why she felt she needed to do what she did. Very very sad...

Not sure what Pennsylvania's state law for claiming insanity is, but if its not the "perpetrator didnt know the difference b/w right and wrong" ruling, then she'll most likely end up as being criminally insane. Like TGM said, its something lots of women face in the 30's, think of it like the midlife crisis a lot of men go through in their 40's.
Also, after her husband separating from her and her children all starting to get older and reaching the age when they dont think they need their parents anymore, then she probably wanted someone in her life that needed her and depended on her. Sad but true. I hope the vicitm and baby are alright and the woman gets the help she needs.

Wow...just....wow.....I'm studying psychology, and I've seen/heard my share of cases of the criminally insane, but I have not heard of anything like this before....maybe it would make an informative discussion in class.....the human brain is a "computer" if you put it....some things work to hard, it has an overload and malfunctions. This is a VERY over-the-fucking-top example....God...when I get married, and have a child on the way, I'm not going to leave my wifes side...this is just horrible.
