Hurricane Rita

I assume everyone has stopped playing FFXI to realize that another powerful hurricane is about to hit the Gulf Coast. Living in Southwest Florida I was able to dodge the bullet yet again. Some will not be so lucky though. I was just wondering what your thoughts on this storm were. And my condolences to anyone who may be affected.

The worst part of it is supposed to hit Texas. There have been mandatory evacuations in effect for the last couple days. They are also bussing out anyone who can not get out on their own. (Both the poor and those in hospitals and nursing homes etc.) I think the fact that Texas as a state has a lot more money than LA will atleast help with the rebuilding process and the aftermath. Now, as for the hurricane itself its Cat5 now, we can only hope it does like Katrina and dies down a bit before making landfall Saturday morning.

Supposedly its supposed to hit land as a Cat 4 hurricane, though its still up i the air at this point because you never know how the warm waters of the gulf will affect it.

On another note: Make sure you get your gas now, the prices (at least around me) are expected to jump tomorrow or saturday because of the hurricane hitting.

Well at least the wind speed is only 140 now but it looks like it will damage Louisiana again. I also read that gas went down slightly today but after it hits who knows.

They're saying $5 a gallon soon, but I don't think it will get that high, it all depends on how much the oil companies want to drain from our veins.

The majority of Texas' oil refineriesd are along the coast, stretching from Mexican border to West Louisiana. Texas puts out 1/4 of the nations gas so if they get swamped the nation is producing less gas and the price will rise. We just recently got up to the levels pre-Katrina, now if they arent careful the supply will run very thin.

I read that though the oil and gas companies are making higher profits than normal, that the real money makers have been the refineries.
Yes, the hurricane is supposed to hit farther east than originally thought. It was also down to a Cat3, though it might be back to 4 now. Not a lot can be done now, but to pray for the best.

yeah gas here is like $2.89-$3.05 but my dad owns a house down in florida and we got hit pretty hard with ivan and charle they both crossed over my dads house we had a bunch of trees in our yard and you could barely see the sunlight but now u can get a sun burn out their i also give my condolences to the people who were affected and hope that they get their life together soon

My father-in-law lives on the coast. It's just amazing how one minute everything is there and the next its all gone. He cares little for most of it but the memorabilia and pics from family members is a great loss.
