Yeah, I knew gas in Europe was a lot more expensive than in the states. However, in Iraq its supposed to be 84 cents a gallon.
And like I said, we dont have a public transportation system thats worth a crap here, unless you want to go downtown.

Yeah, Bushes approval rating is way down. Ofcourse, historically every president's approval rating drops throught the ground when gas prices are up. B/c somehow its his fault it costs so much.
Yeah, but Bushes is at a record low for approval rating since not only is it the gas situation but also the military conflicts. He's just in an absolutly horrendous spot, unless he does something clever about it I'm sure then that there's some people setting up the rope to lynch him.

        What else is new.
Yeah, he pretty well kept getting screwed since he took office in '01. Lets see: Enron, 9/11, Iraq, and now gas prices. Funny thing is, I bet ppl are wishing the war had been about oil now. I'm sure he'll take the blame somehow for the hurricane too. Seems we always put all the blame and or praise on whoever the president is at the time. Yes, they have power, but not the power we seem to give them credit for and hold them accountable to.
Anyway, gas prices suck and noone is supposed to buy gas tomorrow and see if that helps make a difference.

          Re: Gas prices

I went on vacation in Wasington for 3 weeks, seeing the gas prices at $2.75 and I thought it was a lot. I took a bus home DURING the chaos of hurricane katrina to Michigan. (I HATE GREYHOUND KJSDKS!!!!) The gas prices were $2.75 then it jumped to $3.30 in a matter of moments! It cleaned my wallet...At least the prices fell back to being at least near 3 bucks, not near 3.50.... It was still crazy seeing people in the cheapest gas stations!

Yes, even if the prices on crude become cheaper, the gas companies will try to charge as much as possible to make a profit. Also, unless your parents are paying for your car insurance, your paycheck will go towards that, not gas XD......... new drivers. :p

Not to mention, it would be great for Alaska's economy, not to mention the US's.

I don't agree with drilling Alaska alone. I think we should drill everywhere off the coasts of America and even drill in Saudi whether they like it or not (if they don't like it, I propose carpet-bombing them fools).

Correct. Unless we can start building many-more refineries here in America, gas prices WILL continue growing no matter how much crude oil we find. People just need to do simple mathematics really.

Unless they actually manage to poll over 90% of the population of America I don't see any use for the basis of a poll. Because, truth be known-you can go anywhere within the heart of this country and find people who do support Bush whole-heartedly and the only people who have really not supported Bush are those living within mainstream cities. If I wantted, I could go out, find 800 people that hate Bush and the media would believe it was a poll of America. On the other hand, I could poll another 800 people that enjoy Bush and the MSM would discredit it any way whatsoever.

Put it simply, I don't agree with polls unless they manage to poll a significant population number and rather wait for Election day.

When considering how much it costs to pay for gas here in America, consider that Americans are possibly the most spoiled people in the world today in paying for gas prices. Most of Europe easily pays dollars more than us. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should put up with the unjustified high-prices, but that you should be half-full instead of half-empty.

                    Re: Gas prices

Exactly, it might be the most efficient, but it's also the most wastefull and dangerous. The toxic waste that a nuclear reactor produces is INDISPOSABLE. Which means that it pretty much just sits in barrels while we try to figure out what the hell to do with it. Now, if there's something that is worthwhile to make, it would be a hydrogen fuel cell. The byproduct of that is water....which could also be used to make more hydrogen to fuel the cells. Hydrogen is the MOST ABUNDANT element in the universe. Let's harness that instead and leave nuclear energy alone please. :p

PS. Also, forgot to include why we don't use hydrogen fuel cells yet. If one of the cells were to explode, it would have as much force as a patriot missle.....so.....well....we don't use it until we can safely contain it. >_>

                      Re: Gas prices

About 50-60% of the gas stations in Atlanta were out of gas for about 4 days following the hurricane problems. Immediately after, prices went up to about 5 dollars a gallon in Atlanta and about 3-3.50 in the surrounding areas. From what my brother said, prices are still about 4-5 dollars a gallon and prices where I go to school are about 2.79-3.09.

                        Re: Gas prices

Chernobyl was a combination of poor upkeep and uninformed and poorly trained technicians. Granted, nuclear power can be super dangerous and does create a ton of nasty biproducts, but right now its not really any worse than burning coal (our other big source of energy).
I've actually heard that they're trying to go to a hydrogen power cell derivative...its not exactly a power cell, but its along the same lines and much safer. Gas/electric hybrids are pure crap with gas mileage thats not any better than most compact cars.
