    Re: Pai Pai's OFFICIAL Big-Ass E3 2007 Thread

Here are the first images of SCEE and Guerilla Games' Killzone 2. While the screenshots sure look nice, IGN claims that the visuals fall slightly short of the 2005 pre-rendered trailer, and the game looks far better than they had expected.

I spoke to one of my contacts inside Sony earlier this evening and he says that Killzone will be available in playable format at E3. Look for fireworks tomorrow of some sort at Sony's E3 press event if this turns out to be true.

There will be a gameplay trailer up on the PS Store tomorrow after the press conference. It looks to me like 3PM PDT is the magic time for the massive PS Store update, complete with MGS4 and Killzone 2 trailers.

Let's just hope we get a big demo or two, like the impending Lair and Heavenly Sword demos.

As for playable KZ2, a developer on the PlayStation forums did confirm that there would be a playable demo available during the show.

Hunters is the only Metroid title I've never had the will to finish. Its really the boss fights that killed it for me. I've had my complaints about Metroid II and Fusion being bottom-rung for the series, but Hunters made me appreciate them again. It was an Unreal game from the start.

It was impressive they got the Prime control scheme to work so well on the DS, buf if only it had been a true Metroid Prime game...

Manhunt 2 deserved to get the boot from PS2, PSP and Wii. There's a fine line between pushing the envelope with mature content and stuffing your game full of the most ridiculous violence possible just to get the hype. Guess which side of the line mutilating human genitalia with your WiiMote is on?
Yeah, I don't really want R* to start proving Jack Thompson right. I like Jack Thompson where he is - a raving lunatic that discredits himself. Stick to what you know R*, it'll sell more anyway.

I hope I'm not the only one who thinks the visuals look a little...dull. Maybe I just need to find more screenshots and an HD version of the trailer.

I can't wait for Mass Effect in November. And, of course, WotG-hope we get some good tidbits tomorrow.

                  Re: R* and Manhunt 2
I have a pet theory about this title, and it goes something like this:

Rockstar's staff probably realized that they almost got into a world of hurt over GTA3. With GTA4 on the horizon, they know that they need public perception on their side if they don't want to see their golden goose franchise shut down.

                  Enter Manhunt 2.

Maybe R* deliberately made Manhunt 2 deliberately over the top. Partly to shield GTA4 by comparison, and to draw additional attention to themselves.

I can't prove this is what really happened, but you can bet you last dollar that the guys at Rockstar know just how far they can stretch the laws of decency (witness their release of Bully for instance).

                    Nintendo's Big E3 Announcements:

-The WiiZapper accessory houses both the nunchuk and WiiMote for shooting games like Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.
-EA's Medal of Honor for Wii will support 32-player online.
-WiiZapper will retail for $19.99 and be packaged with a certain software game this year. (Metroid anyone?)
-Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors will ship in Early 2008.
-Smash Bros. Brawl will ship December 3rd.
-Check Mii Out channel is coming soon, a Mii voting channel where you can look at other Miis.
-EA, Activision, and Square Enix will debut online games for Wii and DS this year.
-MarioKart Wii will ship in first-quarter 2008.
-Online racing and online battle mode.
-Will support more than 4 players online.
-WiiWheel accessory will come packaged with Mariokart.
-A new DS cookbook software is coming to Japan. Iwata hopes to expand the market for titles like this, with practical, non-gaming purposes.
-Iwata wants to make games for everyone, not games specifically catered to novice gamers or hardcore gamers.
-Brain Age 2 will ship in North America on August 20th.
-Super Mario Galaxy will ship on November 12th.
-Flash Focus, a vision training game for DS.
-On the DS, My Word Coach and My Life Coach from UbiSoft envision a new trend of third party casual titles.
-WiiFit is the expected Wii fitness game. Players stand on a mat. Games include heading away soccer balls, another involves shifting weight focus on the mat, in addition to pushups, dancing and yoga.
-The game tracks BMI and other health-related statistics.
-WiiFit will feature over 40 exercises.

Miyamoto says WiiFit is the last featured game of their press conference, so it looks like that's all for today. Don't expect Nintendo to be done though, as last year the Brawl trailer randomly appeared on the show floor on the 2nd day.

Not really. MGS4 probably takes place about 10 years after the events of the first game. Since Snake ages faster than the normal human, she should look much younger than him.

                                Boo, duckhunt.

Snake will probably die in MGS4. Kojima wants to be done with it, I don't see him doing that any other way than killing off Snake.

And I mean, really. Sure, Snake's awesome, but he's getting older rapidly, he's gradually dying from FOXDIE, and he's got the whole big walking metal nuclear tank things to worry about. How much longer can he hold out?

Also, T-Minus 10 minutes until Sony saves E3 2007 from rampant casual gamers.
