Believe it or not, that's actually something completely different than the rumored MS handheld gaming console. All the information about the Origami came to light before the new MS handheld rumors even started up. I still don't quite buy them going in for the handheld market so soon with them still trying to get their feet wet with consoles, but with MS you never know and god knows any kind of competition is a good thing.

FINAL FANTASY Crystal Chronicles 2 will definitely be a success. The first one was an extremely fun and well-made game, and its only obstacle to glory was its dependance on the GBA-connectivity for multiplayer. Losing that and gaining support for Nintendo WiFi Connection will mean great things for the sequel.
I don't think they even said that the next Final Fantasy would be for PS3... Ever. They have just said that it was being worked on.

There has been tons of rumors some even believable that FFXIII is coming the PS3... but SquEnix has not confirmed it.

Is it very likely it will be on PS3? Yes, but you know I'm being optimistic about this thing.

Oh and hey NiGHTS was announced for the Revolution in Famitsu this week.

          Re: The Next-Gen War Continues!

Got a source on that? Sounds pretty interesting.

The Magic Box reports two big announcements today. The first is that SEGA's highly anticipated RPG Phantasy Star Universe will be coming to Xbox 360, and is scheduled for a fall release alongside the PS2 and PC versions. It's currently unknown if there will be any cross-platform play, or if Xbox Live subscribers will have to pay additional fees to play the game online.

The second announcement is Namco's Ridge Racer 7, which will be an exclusive launch title for the PlayStation 3. Namco plans on supporting online gameplay for at least 16 players simultaneously. The game takes place in 2010 (odd choice...), and there will be around 200 cars available.

Other news worth noting is that Zipper Interactive, which was recently purchased by Sony Computer Entertainment, announced SOCOM US Navy Seals: Combined Assault for PS2, and SOCOM US Navy Seals: Fireteam Bravo 2 for PSP.

IGN reports from a discussion with FINAL FANTASY XI producer Hiromichi Tanaka, fresh from the release of the third expansion pack, Treasures of Aht Urhgan, as well as the launch of the Xbox 360 version of the game. Tanaka reports that a development team is currently hard at work with Square Enix's next big MMO title, which is being targeted for PlayStation 3 and Windows Vista. No word on an Xbox 360 version, but it's likely to happen, seeing as how FFXI just found new life on the 360.

            Re: The Next-Gen War Continues!

I'm betting they're going to end up handling PSU the same way they do FFXI. You still have to pay for the game like you do on other platforms, but you don't have to pay for the Gold service tier with Live in order to play PSU.

As for Nights, it wasn't an announcement, it was a comment in Famitsu's rumor section. Nothing official at all

Like pai, i will hope for a Lunar 3 ^^~. As for the Origami, it does indeed look interesting but other than the GPS and some other nifty features that would be usefull in a "pocket" laptop it just dosent appeal to me. 3-4 hours of battery life is kinda weak too but other than that, having a full detailed map (most likely zoom enabled), GPS and if there is an internet connection around, google earth on the go is pretty neat. RR7 seems it should be feared by the masses muwhahha. Its alot easier to get into that GT(x) and more people who are not simulation fiends will probally opt to get that instead of GT(x). If RR7 comes out before GT-whatever then im getting it ^_^~ 16 players to online racing /drool

Are you sure? All I could make out with my terrible Japanese skills was something about a delay and a beta test, and it mentions something about the PSP in the last paragraph, but I couldn't read it. I just saw "PSP"

                      Re: The Next-Gen War Continues!

Interesting. Guess we'll see at E3

NiGHTs was included as a hidden character in the recent Sonic Riders game. That alone could be enough of a hint that a new title is in the making, and I'm sure SEGA plans on supporting the Revolution with new, exclusive titles.

Speaking of reviving old series, IGN reports that the original development team behind Earthworm Jim is getting back together to create a next-generation installment to the popular 16-bit series. According to rumour, a PSP title is already in development, but has not secured a publisher since Atari dropped Shiny Entertainment.

                        Re: The Next-Gen War Continues!

1UP is running an interview with SEGA, about today's announcement of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz for Nintendo Revolution.

In addition, there's a rumour going around that an imcomplete launch lineup for the PS3's November release has been leaked. The leak lists the following games:

                        John Woo's Stranglehold (Midway)
                        Tekken (Namco-Bandai Games)
                        Sonic the Hedgehog (SEGA)
                        Resistance: Fall of Man (Insomniac)
Rainbow Six: Vegas (Ubi Soft Montreal)
                        Lair (Factor 5)
                        Motorstorm (Evolution Studios)
Untold Legends: The Dark Kingdom (Sony Online Entertainment)

The list, for some reason, does not include Namco-Bandai's Ridge Racer 7, already confirmed for launch, or SCEA's Warhawk, which will be playable at this year's E3 and is expected to launch with the system.

There's also a rumour going around that the Xbox 360 will be dropped to $299 (Premium) and $219 (Core) at the end of 2006. Gamespot does not list any specific source of credibility, but says that the information may have been leaked from a conversation by a Microsoft worker. The supposed leak also reveals that the HD-DVD add-on for Xbox 360 could launch as low as $100, and that a 100-GB HDD attachment may be on the way.

Level 5's popular RPG Rogue Galaxy has been confirmed for North American release. IGN PS2 is running coverage on a hands-on with the game.

E3's first press-conferences are only 12 days away! Huzzah!

I heard that the 360 was dropping to 349 (premium) and 299 (core). I tend to believe those numbers before I would believe 299 for the premium, that seems to be too huge of a drop.

I can confirm that Rainbow Six: Vegas is being developed for Xbox360 and PS3. One of my friends was working on the title until he left Ubisoft Montreal a week ago.

I agree, $219 for the core seems ridiculous. The previously-announced new CPU that Xbox 360s are getting in the beginning of 2007 won't even drop the price by that much, I'd expect.

A price drop is definitely imminent, with the PS3 and Revolution on the way, but probably nothing that drastic, unless Microsoft just wants to lose more money. Either way, I'm happy since I'll be buying a 360 for Mistwalker's Blue Dragon.

Here's yet another rumor about the Revolution Controller that is very cool! Seems pretty much a go though:

                                New mystery Rev feature revealed

                                Wednesday 26-Apr-2006 3:35 PM

Nunchaku controller attachment said to feature accelerometer/motion sensor technology

Following Nintendo's initial Revolution controller unveiling at TGS last year, company execs have variously admitted that not all the next-gen console's secrets have been revealed. However, it seems that the cat's now been let out the bag regarding a second unique controller feature in the form of an accelerometer/motion sensor inside the machine's nunchaku attachment.

Reports first surfaced on the web last week and the rumours were given further credence after website AMN claimed to have spoken to a source close to Nintendo who confirmed the news. Now though, CVG has been informed by another well-placed development source, understandably speaking under strict conditions of anonymity, that the reports are indeed true.

Initially, the notion of a sensor in the nunchaku attachment might seem a little strange, what with the wand-style controller already being fully spacially aware. However, factoring in the nunchaku's ability to sense movement in various direction, all manner of new possibilities arise. Most obviously, in FPS games for example, the secondary controller could be used to look around your environment, alongside controlling movement, meaning the wand would remain free to aim and fire your weapon at all times - imperative for those frantic gun-fights.

As always though, without official confirmation from Nintendo itself, it's impossible to entirely validate the reports. Still, for now we're happy to file this one under "almost a certainty" if not actually "definite", until the company steps forward and reveals all at E3 next month.
