So has anyone seen this yet? I don't remember seeing a post in the movie review thread, and the only thread devoted to The Hobbit was J9 comparing it to ffxi...

The wifey and I are going to check it out tonight in IMAX. I've heard from Hobbit nerds that they were apprehensive about the movie being made into a trilogie and were afraid of all the added content that would be necessary to drag the movie out that long. However, one of my friends is one of those people, and he said the movie was incredible. Out of the entire almost 3 hour movie, he said there was only one scene that he could've done without, but he said it didnt detract at all from the storyline. He said the movie is every bit as good as TLoTR movies, and Peter Jackson picked up right where he left off, well except that this was a prequil, lol. But he said he loved it and is looking forward to the other movies.

Anyone else seen it and have thoughts? No spoilers obviously...

    Loved the movie.

Stay away from the 48fps version, looks like a costume party and everyone is too much in character and looks terrible.

Some minor gripes, like... when they go to... that place and.. they could get there faster because MAGIC but, yeah, whatever. Its a movie and i liked it a lot. Certainly brings some nostalgia from revisiting middle earth

Well, obviously, the story will be told from the PJ perspective, so if you didn't like his vision of LotR, then you'll certainly dislike (or be predisposed to disliking) this movie.

I'm stoked for it ... if only to see how he envisioned the story. However, considering that I've read The Hobbit no less than a dozen times, I'm going to be much more critical of the PJ lens effect than other viewers might be ...

Yeah I loved Jackson's vision in the LotR's... One of the best movies of all time. I can't wait for The Hobbit.

I'm glad I held out for buying DVD/BDs ... they have this director's cut massive LotR BD set now ... but I'm going to have to wait to buy it since I'm just paying down the holidays debt

            Re: The Hobbit

The Hobbit, the movie, is quite different from the book from what I can tell, some parts are "Hollywood-fied", not only to please the audience but also to make it a little longer...

that damn peter jackson and his "unexpected" shift of intentions, lol

last week "wont make more lotr movies :<"
this week "needs moar middle earth"
