    Re: The Olympics 2012 thread

Been watching whatever is randomly on. Really only cared about diving (which was great today). Saw Im Dong-Hyun in archery for shits and grins. Dude is fucking amazing nevermind the fact he is legally blind.

MSNBC and CNBC have the best stuff IMO. Bravo's been mostly Tennis..yay........

I'm really glad NBC is getting so much shit for how they've handled this. I know part of it is really because they're owned by Comcast and I fucking hate them, too, but it just feels good.

Don't get me started on the opening ceremonies. That was just a clusterfuck of awful on NBCs part.

BBC has been pretty draconic with blocking anything that isn't part of their official streams as well (upload a video onto youtube that was taken from one of the BBC's feeds and see how quickly it gets censored).

In fact their players regularly freak out if you even dare to try and rewind a clip.

Stuff like this is pretty much standard operating procedure in the UK though:

Honestly, even with the uncut footage I thought the ceremonies sucked.

Even ours was more interesting with all the first nations stuff. Not that I expected them (or anyone else) to top China, but... eh. I guess I expected a bit more class.

I mean shit, have you heard that god awful rock theme they're using?!

It happens every year across Europe Mal. Sports fans seem to pick one horrible rock anthem and play it pretty much at every interval.

Don't say churros... it makes me sad they're not popular in NC. I can't find a place that sells them

Yeah that's probably one of the few things I still like about Ottawa... can get almost any food here if you look hard enough.

If there's a place, I don't know of it. They never even mention them in the mexican restaruants I go to and there are easily three of those within three miles of where I live. Nothing :/

I went to one of them to see more of the olympics today. Well, it was water polo where I was sitting. I didn't really follow it as much as my Facebook feed on my phone, but I think USA beat whatever ROU stands for >.>

With today's diving bronze (men's 3m synchro) the US has earned the same number of diving medals as the Atlanta, Sydney, Athens and Beijing games combined (no medals were earned in Athens and Beijing).

We have various kinds of restaurants and eateries that sell churros here ... latest being this interesting Peruvian/Argentinean mix eatery called Horeo's in downtown. Although, I could probably go to Nobu's and get, uh, hoity-toity churros. lol

China dominates this ... but that's okay. They've still yet to field serious track and field contenders.

I had to wiki "Churros" because I had no idea what they are but after learning what they are, I'm surprised the heart attack rate in Mexico is ludicrously high.
