      I'll never forget the trauma I had using her all the way through the game in my team until she died.

        I don't remember there being any trauma honestly. It was just another part of the story, and by that point she'd be removed from the party for quite a while.

          I felt Palom and Porom's apparent death waaaaay more than Aerith's. <_<;

            You'd care if she had materia and equipment in her.

              I don't even recall losing access to any materia when she left. Was that a thing that happened?

                I can't recall for certain if you'd lose Materia but you definitely lose equipment, because I remember her Parasol weapon going missing from my inventory.

                  I think you keep the materia, but then, you can always loot her before her untimely death happens.

                  Most games these days allow for the posthumous looting of cast members.

                    I dont remember losing materia but I used her solely as my group healer.

                      Anyone with White Wind will do, but Enemy Skill is pretty broken overall and if you have Big Guard you won't need much healing. Red XIII's Lunatic High (group Haste) is also way more valuable than any Limit Break Aerith had to offer, not that there's any reason you couldn't have both Red and Aerith.

                        Eh, I dunno Great Gospel would have been seriously nice for the Ruby and Emerald Weapon fights.

                          Well ... there were characters that croaked in FF before, but they were usually 2-bit players. I agree with that Aerith being chopped in the middle of the game was emotionally wrenching and did affect how people perceived the game as they played it through to the end (rather than having one of those, "haha I didn't really die, but you gotta do the whole 50 levels again to catch me up to everyone" retardedness)

                          But you're forgetting the fact that if she was left as a playable character right up to the end, she'd have a plethora of abilities that would probably more OP than what she had when she was killed off.
