I'd rate it as easily the best of the TMNT movies; the only real misstep was the supernatural enemies shtick, which is (IMO) forgivable.
Did you read the same TMNT comics I did?

The first movie was directly based on parts of this series:

I'm not talking so much about the story (which the first movie is at least "sort of" close to). I'm talking about the tone. The TMNT comics are violent and a lot darker than the Muppet-esque facelift that the movies and (especially) cartoon present.

Well, I think we both know that the movie couldn't have just been sold to the crowd that read those comics, but that basing it directly off the cartoon of the time would have left nothing there for the adult audience being forced to see it. Casey and April held true to their comic book roots, as are Shredder and The Foot. The Turtles were placed closer to the cartoon, not that the versions of those comics weren't without their moments.

All things considered, it came out light years of that Super Mario Bros movie. In fact, I can find few things worse than that outside of Uwe Boll adaptations. So no matter how bad we think Micheal Bay does with Transformers or TMNT, it can't be THAT bad.

Nintendo's probably glad everyone's forgotten that movie.

Also, why worry about Micheal raping your childhood? Worry about turtles raping your shoes!
