Re: Michael Bay Continues to Rape Our Childhood Memories

I hate this many for many reasons....this just adds to the list... seriously though the current copyright holders of TMNT should at least say something to him.... this should not be allowed -.-

Please, we all know it's going to somehow end up being military porn with lots of explosions...

      ...that sounded bad, huh.

Why can't people come up with something original, than try to change something from everyone's child hood?

Or, at least bring back the old stuff and DON'T change a thing about it, but keep it the way it was.

They rebooted both Spider-Man and Superman barely ten years after the previous installments. Of course they're desperate.

CGI TMNT is a sad panda that neither of you are aware of its existence (aside: I actually own this movie on Blu-ray).

Also: Screw Michael Bay. Keep your explosions away from my Turtles.

You think so? They just made a movie out of a board game. Battleship.

                    IMDb - Battleship (2012)

Since when was Battleship about fighting off alien threats?

And they chose to go with that rather than remake Clue. Then again, maybe that's for the best since the original Clue movie was actually rather brilliant and had a great cast of comical actors.

Rebooting Spiderman is something Marvel does all the time now, the writers of the comic have an obsession with keeping Peter Parker and Mary Jane in high school or college. Hollywood is obsessed with youth and appealing to the young by any means they can.

Superman Returns, however, was a terrible movie that was carrying the torch of a long-dead series of Superman films. They'd been dead and done for almost two decades. Superman IV was horrible, too, which is where they stopped milking it. Worse is that they got someone to reprise Christopher Reeve's Superman and prevented the actof from putting his stamp on the role. He as more or less there in tribute of Reeve's Superman. Kevin Spacy claims he'd never seen the movies, yet he also emulates Hackman's Lex Luthor point-for-point.

Spiderman didn't really need a reboot, Superman actually does. Be glad they didn't reboot in the late 90s, because back then they were going to cast Nicholas Cage as Superman.

                    Yeah.

That just makes it even worse, really. So they already tried to revive TMNT and failed, and now 5 years out they're going for it again? Again, how do they plan to make money off of this?

So was CGI TMNT any good?

I don't remember disliking it, but it wasn't at all memorable. No really, I've forgotten what actually happens in that movie, and I'm reasonably certain I did actually see it.

Toys and a video game cash-in? A quick trip to Netflix and Hulu, maybe? Lots of movies that don't do well recoup what was lost on DVD, Blu Ray and streaming now. While video games may be stomping movies in initial profits these days, movies still have plenty of ways to get that money back, particularly given people can go "just how bad can it be?" and see at least one or two commercials on Hulu before they stop watching it.

There's also the fact that no matter how much people hate how he did the Transformer movies they went out and saw all of them anyway. Some people just go to movies for the sensory overload and that squeaky clean brain feeling when they walk out.

That CGI remake was shit, it was actually worse than TMNT 3 - and that's saying something.

The very first movie is still IMO the best, and one of the best movies ever period (well, as far as cartoons/comic book adaptations go anyway)

I'm sorry, but I have to disgaree vehemently.

The CGI TMNT wasn't perfect, but it's a lot closer to the original comic book source material than any of the other movies or cartoons. It's darker, much more mature, and the Turtles themselves aren't all frat boy idiots. I'd rate it as easily the best of the TMNT movies; the only real misstep was the supernatural enemies shtick, which is (IMO) forgivable.

It also looks very, very good.

I remember the CGI movie coming out, but I'm talking about the original turtles stuff in the late 80s and early 90s. I know the basics, but not much lore deeper than "the turtles are named after painters, like pizza, live in the sewers, Rat Sensei"
