  • Stephen T. Colbert - Patriot, Pundit, & Spartan II ?!

Bungie's site was giving me hell last week for w/e reason so I didn't notice this until today, but holy crap talk about epic.

    Bungie.net : Bungie Weekly Update: 05/06/2011 : 5/6/2011 4:26 PM PDT

The Colbert and Halo Nations collided briefly this week when the Most Honorable Sir Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, Esquire hypothesized that Master Chief was likely one of the classified members of the now famous SEAL Team Six. While the operational status of The Chief and SEAL Team Six are both matters of secrecy, we can finally crack the lid on one of the operations we conducted around the launch of Halo: Reach.

Too Epic NOT to have a Spoiler Tag

Bungie artist, and recent bed and bone crusher (don’t ask), Lorraine McLees lovingly painted this interpretation of the Most Honorable Sir Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, Esquire last year for a potential mention on The Colbert Report that ultimately never materialized. I thought it would be a shame if it remained filed away in our “Eyes Only” archive.

For those with a predisposition for base jumping headlong into the crater of conclusions, no, this isn’t real. No amount of button pressing, tearful forum posting, or prayer to the deity of your choosing will make this epic armor an in-game reality. This is the stuff of dreams.

I can not believe this never got mentioned during the game's launch... would have been some seriously awesome PR, and the fans would have eaten it up even if they don't like Halo. Ah well, missed opportunities and whatnot.

I'm seriously tempted to make that my Wallpaper for my desktop lol, but I wuvs my Canadian Lynx so much.

He was funny like ten years ago, back when he was still doing comedy and not being a caricature of himself.

The fact that he has to trawl for attention like this in certainly communities rather than the merits of his own comedy reminds me of people that show up in other people's channels on Youtube/Flipnote/etc comment sections begging for rate-ups and subscribers. I imagine he'll start doing that soon, too.

To you, this might be epic because you're still a fan - to me it just shows he's washed-up and on his way out.

As a Colbert fan who feels the same way about the word "epic" as BBQ feels about Colbert, I think that pic is pretty cool.

it. Maybe I'd still be playing Halo Reach if that skin was an option.

              Checked the AP.

Yep, this was nothing but trawling for attention.

He wants to be a loudmouth in the next election. get donations, form a super PAC and serve no real purpose but to annoy just like he didn't when he appeared before congressional subcommittees last year. I should add it was the democrats that asked him to leave to. Not because him pretending to be a conservative talk icon was annoying but just because he was in the way of everyone getting real work done.

That and he wasn't as endearing as Elmo when he did it.

I get that he's just trying to spoof the campaign finance issue, but the fact is even if he got right down to the line where the issue could be addressed and resolved, even he would back off.

Because everyone does. Its a political tool, just like many other issues politicians use to get morons riled up and on their side. But do any of those politicians ever do anything in regards to the issue of abortion, gay marriage, immigration or campaign finance reform.

No, they're too useful as tools.

Obama only pretends to be mad about campaign finance as an issue but he's the one out there raising upwards of a billion dollars for his re-election campaign so the issue clearly does not bother him that much. Even McCain got really mum on the issue and it used to a big issue for him. He was all talk about it at the end of the day.

He's an entertainer. Trawling for attention is what he does. If he succeeds in drawing attention to an issue that could stand more public scrutiny, that's a job well done.

I think he's just being realistic, like he was with Health Care - He wanted to get a single payer system (which they now have in Vermont, the 1st in the Union to have a true universal system. Michigan's isn't quite there.) but he knew damn well it would never get passed in the Senate.

So by the same token, he's going for all this crazy money because he's going to need it. Would it be great and wonderful if they really could pass campaign finance reform? Of course, but it'll never happen. I'm not saying I approve btw, just that I understand where Obama's coming from.
