That was the initial thought awhile back that the next villain would be Riddler and J. Depp would be playing him. I would pay double to see that movie!

Scarecrow was in the first one.

I'm still for Riddler. Jim Carrey did do a good job, but I think if anything, he could play The Joker if they were to bring his character back.

Johnny Depp as The Riddler though? I can't see it..

Who do you think should play Robin in the event they introduce him?

With as many other crazy unique characters as he's played, you can't see Johnny Depp as the Riddler? I bet some people said the same thing about Heath Ledger lol.

The Riddler was always more of a supporting villian, don't see them basing a film around him as the main protagonist. I think the current theme of the Dark Knight storyline vs the classic Batman really doesn't allow for the more colourful and fantastical characters like Clayface, Killer Croc, Man-bat, etc. They've already used The Scarecrow (twice), The Joker, Two-Face, and Ra's al Gul which leaves the likes of The Penguin, Mr Freeze, Catman/woman, and The Mad Hatter or maybe The Reaper from Batman: Year Two.

I'm actually interested to see if they introduce a Robin character. While it wouldn't seem to fit in with the current Batman theme it is a relatively integral character.

As for the comment about the messed up voice, I put that down more as a method of intimidation coupled with an additional form of anonymity. He's a high profile international playboy/entrepreneur often splashed across the media and it would only be a matter of time before someone recognised his voice.

As long as he doesn't start dancing near the end of the movie... we're cool.

Though I'm all up for the Penguin, like it's been said; he'd be perfect for the current situation Batman is in. Then again, can't say much. Most of my Batman knowledge comes from the movies, not the comics. Hell, only version of Bane I know is the one who thinks he's a Pokemon.

I know barely anything about the Batman comics, so it's always nice when someone posts some information.

The Huntress could be a good Ally character, especially if they do a story with the mob.

If they don't go down the Mafia road I would guess the next villain would be Zsasz. A serial killer fits well into this world Nolan has made.

Green Arrow could possibly be another Ally choice. Bruce Wayne and Oliver Queen had a lot in common, but they also have their disagreeable moments. Good lead in to a JLA later..?

Yeah, he's played some real crazy stuff in the last decade especially. Also, this Gotham would shoot a Spandex-clad Riddler on sight, but I see the zoot-suit style Riddler fitting in.

Johnny Depp has actually been rumored for The Riddler since The Dark Knight came out, but seeing as its just in pre-production now, they're probably still working out villains as it is. As I've said, I don't think Riddler would fit, but maybe in Batman 4.

As for Robin, Christian Bale has been quoted as saying that he would not reprise Bruce/Batman if they added a Robin character. While Bale is not the greatest actor on earth, he's far from the worst Batman and has great chemistry with other actors when he's in the Bruce Wayne role. That's good enough for me. Villains and allies define batman, so if he could just take the voice down to a John Conner level, he'd be golden on the Bat-side.

The Huntress could be another good ally. In the Earth Prime continuity she's the daughter of a Gotham mob boss and she's a teacher by day, vigilante by night (Earth Two continuity has her as the daughter of Batman and Catwoman). Thing is Huntress isn't as smart as Batman nor as cunning as Catwoman. I think Oracle would be needed in the story to really make her work.

Problem is more recently, Huntress has been outshined by the new Batwoman - Katherine Kane. OK, that's really the same identity as the old Batwoman, but this time she's a lesbian with the hots for the new, female version of The Question.

I'm not a big fan of having a lot of characters in a movie, but the Huntress was also a member of the Birds of Prey group which the Oracle started. Highly unlikely they create the Birds of Prey for a Batman movie, but maybe they could have two Allies added..? Don't shoot me. /duck

What about The Ventriloquist? He has obvious mob connections and isn't as outlandish as Killer Croc or Clayface. I can see people buying into multiple personality disorder.

I disagree. I still think The Riddler would be awesome choice. I do agree that Jim Carey's Riddler wouldnt't fit the world. I think Depp would make a very good Riddler; however, I'm tired of him always being cast for "quirky" ... gotta be a fairly unknown or non-obvious choice I'd at least hope. I can see Clayface or Killer Croc being utilized in the current Batman world but they would be henchmen to the main mastermind. I do not think they are too outlandish, wild, or w/e people are saying.

Penguin's a good choice too. I'm biased against the Penguin cuz he's one of my least favorite villains.

Quoting this because I looking in a comic store today, for The Killing Joke, and spotted Hush which seems to a compedium of sorts of the issues with Hush's storyline.

After a bit of a look at the character, I'd think he'd make a good villan for the next movie as he could be used for both the Bruce Wayne side and the Batman side.

Store was fail with The Killing Joke, should I get Hush? Would it be a good starting point for actually reading Batman comics? <.<

For the current Batman movie series you'd probably be better off picking up Batman: Year One. I'm a massive fan of The Dark Knight Returns but that is far far removed from Year One.

Its a good place to start with present day Batman, I think. You get to see a nice big cast of characters all through the story and there are some connections to mid-90s Batman as well. Jeph Loeb spins a good yarn

Though to get into more current stuff, Grant Morrison's work might be more appropriate. IF you've read JLA Tower of Babel (as your avatar suggests) or JLA: Rock of Ages, those are good primers for the current Batman and Robin comic and DCU in general.

Final Crisis took a lot of cues from Rock of Ages, too. Morrison loves to spin classic comic history while weaving it into his style of storytelling these days. You'll see villains in Batman and Robin that are not only B-List, but haven't been seen in decades.

You might also want to keep your eye out for the upcoming animated movie, Batman: Under the Red Hood. They cast new actors for all the characters, but the cast is strong from what I've seen of the previews.

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths came out recently. It based on the JLA: Earth 2 story by Morrison, where an evil version of the Justice League dominates their earth and Lex Luthor, the last surviving hero of that world comes to the good JLA's earth to ask for help.

Best part? James Woods voices Batman's doppelganger - Owlman.

There are too many aspects of the Hush storyline to fit them all into a movie. The history that particular series and the villain Hush touches on is decades of intrigue. Good series. Well written. Very good art from Jim Lee.
