Alright, so Chuck Norris, Jet-Li, Tony Jaa, Bruce Lee, Pat Morita, and Jackie Chan walk into a bar... 5 mins later the bar is destroyed.

They actually were going to call it "The Kung-Fu Kid" but decided against it.

Yeah, I remember hearing that on Movie Buzz a few weeks back. Next thing I knew there was the Karate Kid trailer out =_= NOEZ.

As much as I hate the idea, there will probably be nothing else out that weekend and I'll be forced to go see it. It might be a decent movie if Jaden was around 15ish because that would make the story make a bit more sense imo, but they're all just kiddies.

I think it was more of a reference to the fact that we have greater access to information now than we ever have. Unless you were just being deliberately obtuse.

So they actually can call it The Karate Kid, even if its got Kung Fu in it. Plus its just easier to market it since its a familiar name and flows better. And if Jackie Chan isn't fussing over the details, I don't see a reason to.

Information without context and observation of thematic devices means very little. Even if Karate and Kung Fu are stylistically different, the philosophy behind the arts are the same as the message of the movies.

They share the same principles, the movie's theme will be about the principles, so it doesn't really matter what the martial art it is. They can talk Karate or the Wude of Kung Fu, but the principle is the same - use this art to defend yourself, protect others and be the better man and not be needlessly provoked. Its not about harming others. Its about your honor.
