The difference between "Lazer" and "Laser" is a matter of spelling, not sentence structure. You are a Spelling Nazi, not a Grammar Nazi.

I've listened really hard and I can't ever hear it. I think its a case of people hearing something because they want to.

And thanks to the spellling nazi I think I'll never forget how to spell laser now that I know what it stands for. ^^ lol

Well the "take off your clothes" bit in Aladdin actually does exist, so it's not just a subliminal thing. But you have to have the volume up so damn high that it hurts the shit out of your ears to watch the rest of the scene unfold around it.
Yeah, that's really the only one that ever slipped by, but it that was Robin Williams pulling a fast one and pushing the envelope as he tended to do at the time. There was a shitload of stuff in both that and Ferngully that had to be redrawn at the studio's expense because William's improvised so much of what he was given.

Hasn't it since been edited out anyway?

Robin Williams has never been called back to reprise Genie for anything since the original movie, either. Dan Castanella has done everything Genie since then and its pretty hard not to see Homer Simpson under there.

So we have Spelling Nazi, Grammar Nazi, and Vocabulary Nazi. Are there any more? Punctuation Nazi perhaps?

              But on topic.....
I've never really been into Disney movies, I grew up watching animated television series which I never really bothered to learn who actually did them, being a kid and all. Think it was mostly Warner Brothers.

However, I did enjoy The Lion King... love those Hyenas

That reminds me, the lyrics to "Arabian Night" where they "Where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense" used to be "Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face."

That was changed because some Islamic people found the comment racist so Disney changed it.

Re: Your favorite Disney hand-drawn animated feature o.o/

It had nothing to do directly with Islam, Arabic people took issue with it. In the Torah (which Judaism, Islam and Christianity all draw from), its stated "If your right hand causes you to sin, cast it off."

In Arabic culture way back when, they took it literally rather than notice the metaphor Moses was probably going for. So that line is a reference to that little misinterpretation the ancestors of Arabs made, I'd think. We have a whole damn movie poking fun at The Crusades, no White People or even Christians get offended by it. People took religion just a little too seriously sometimes in history.

But the change I don't really have issues with, intense heat can pass for "barbaric," it just changs the context of barbaric from the culture of that period to that of the weather. No one would think to cut hands off in Agrabah now.

Also, fuck your lasers. I have lazors!

Yeah I think people go overboard with political correctness sometimes or getting offended by things but I don't think it changed the song much.

Re: Your favorite Disney hand-drawn animated feature o.o/

Just got back from Princess and the Frog a little while ago.

God, what a musical treat that movie was. If I had to rate it against other Disney animated musicals, I'd have to say its one of the best I've seen, easily up there with Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid. New Orleans Jazz is very much the soul of this movie and it celebrates it to some extent at almost every turn.

More or less, the premise is that Tiana is a hardworking young lady with the dream of opening her very own swanky restaurant. She's passionate about cooking, a trait she took after from her father and opening the restaurant was partly his dream as well, but he passes away when she was young. She holds on to her dream a little too much though, outside of work, she doesn't know how to have fun.

I'd say she's the strongest Disney heroine since Belle, headstrong like Ariel, but too mature for her own good for most of the movie. She's not looking for a prince to save her or pining away for love from the get-go.

Special note: Voice actress Anika Noni Rose sings all her parts, not something that all actresses that have voiced a Disney Princess can claim.

Prince Naveen has come to America to find his princess... more specifically a rich young woman or be disowned by his family and forced to live penniless. He's lived in the lap of luxury all his life and seems more interested in having fun than doing anything that looks like work. He and his assistant quickly get hooked in by the charismatic voodoo practitioner Dr. Facilier (more commonly referred to as "Shadow Man").

Of course, we can tell right away. this is the bad guy. Facilier wants New Orleans under his control, to offer its spirits to his friends on "the other side." He's been eyeing an opportunity to strike it rich and it seems Naveen's search for a rich bride has piqued his interest - he wants to help make it happen, but not the way the prince envisions it.

Facilier is certainly in the realm of Maleficent and Jafar in design, very angular and skinny, but unlike so many of them he doesn't really have a sidekick. He has a living shadow that's really an evil spirit and commands other evil spirits, but its clear they're all just tools to him and little else.

The shadows stick to this guy like green flame is associated with Maleficent. Its great. Keith David's voice just adds a lot to the character too. Best part is he's probably one of the most active villains I've seen in a Disney movie. More often than not, once our heros in Disney take the limelight, but this guy earns his screentime and is no benchwarmer.

Its worth noting that Pixar did pitch in some CG work with the film and it meshes beautifully with all the hand-drawn work. Its really nice too see they cared about this movie, too and want to make hand-drawn movies happen as well.

So basically, if you love New Orleans jazz or just hand drawn animation, this movie is a giant treat. Hopefully we won't have to wait several years for another hand-drawn animated feature.

Wouldn't be a Disney animated feature if something didn't happen to the parents. I wonder when I'll make time to go to the cinemas again.

Speaking of parents passing away, I just rewatched a Disney movie that was mentioned a little earlier in the thread and just realized something. Much is made about the supposed sexism ("All the princesses are only happy when there is a man in their life"), age-ism ("All the villains are over 50"), and racism ("Most of the princesses are white") in Disney movies. Yet, there is a myth perpetuation that nobody ever addresses. And it is one that can hurt people regardless of race, gender, or age!

                                Where is the outrage?!
