    Was going to take my parents to see it today, but my dad had issues with my grandmother so he couldn't go. I ended up taking my mom instead. My mom usually takes a blanket with her when she goes to the movie so she can go to sleep, but she didn't go to sleep during Avatar. After it was over I asked if she went to sleep and she replied "Nope, the movie was too good." If a movie can keep her awake and interested then it was a REALLY good movie!!!

      I totally agree with you Cid. I knew what the story was from watching the f**king trailer (don't get me started on how they need to cut that shit out!). It's one of the reasons I did not go see it on opening day. At first I was all excited for the movie because I saw a teaser that didn't give shit away. Then I broke my cardinal rule and watched a full trailer. After that, when my family asked me about it, I said I wasn't that interested anymore and would buy it when it was released. Well my son would not take that answer and insisted that I go to the theatre and I told him only if he pays. LOL He said, "Ok but if you like it you owe me a movie in return." So when we got out I tried to play it down that I didn't like it but since I was damn near bursting at the seams with excitement...ya that just didn't work. LOL (You'd have thought I drank a pot of coffee and ate a plate of brownies before we got in the car. I was babbling on and on and on I was so excited!)

      The movie whisked me off my feet and immersed me in the story so thoroughly that all previous knowledge just flew out of my brain. I was on Pandora..........and I want to go back!

            I believe he's referring specifically to Dura's mom, who apparently goes to the movies to take naps, not mothers in general. I'm sure like most people you go to the movies to actually see them lol.

              Seriously though she isn't bad as she used to be about it, and certain movie genres definently used to put her to sleep especially if she wasn't interested lol. She thanked me last night for taking her to see it. She said that if I had just told her to see it then she wouldn't have went, but she said the movie was so good that she'd see it a second time.

                While I think it's great that people can discuss a movie like this in terms of its themes and intended message, I really think discussion is where it should end. Not getting outright offended by it...At the end of the day, Avatar is meant to be a crowd pleaser and not intended to offend many people; everybody walks away with ideas that reflect their ideologies. But apparently, it's gotten to the point that I could almost say "If you are unsure of your political beliefs, watch Avatar."

                  The marines weren't really marines, they were more like mercenaries. Some of them were marines, but I'm sure their backgrounds were a little bit more varied. And what was the negative portrayal? That they don't think for themselves? They're not trained to think for themselves.

                  The Na'vi accents all depended on who was playing that one in particular.










                  When will people jump off the white man's balls? We're not all the same person, and there's plenty of people doing horrible things at this very moment that don't seem to garner any attention.

                      SMH at the title, I'm not even going to read the article. As I was scrolling through google news awhile back, there was a similar title of an article pertaining to the movie "The Blind Side". Article title said something stupid like "Why 'The Blind Side' makes white people feel better about themselves." I had to shake my head because I didn't even want to find out the Author's possible rationale behind it lol.

                        Something I thought about on the way to work: It would've been funny if the Marine Commander when he was giving his speech at the beginning of the movie would've ended his speech with "Come on you apes. You want to live forever!!!?"

                            Saw it 4 times now. I keep asking people "Did you see Avatar?" and if they say no I take them. It makes me look less pathetic. lol
