I'm not really holding the old WW show to the DC standard, mostly because it came from a time TV and movie studios didn't give damn about catering to comic book fans or staying true to the source material.

This new show's costume is just trying too hard to blend old with new when WW's current comic look would actually lends much better to TV. Meaning red tank top, black pants, black boots, blue jacket and finger gauntlets replacing the bracelets.



More cloth, less latex. Sure, it looks a bit more biker chick than superhero, but its still better than what they have planned. Fans at least seem to hate it less now that the TV show version has been unveiled. Just ditch the choker.

And yes, the lipstick is a bit gaudy.

I honestly think they could have gone with a less 80s shade of blue. That blue is just awful. It doesn't quite go with the red. The red is so rich and deep, and the blue is really kind of shallow and almost neon in nature. They don't go together.

Also, her facial expression is just vacant. It's hard to get excited about a character in a TV show when the person portraying the character is all like, "meh."

Well, it is an NBC show. That means she might see two seasons at best before cancellation. I have a feeling this is more about getting a break into the Justice League movie.

Well like you said, it has a biker chick vibe and what does a biker chick represent? The dark side. Since WW is the good guy it just wouldn't do. I think if they got rid of the navy blue/black pants that would make a huge difference though. I do prefer something different than the old costume and more up to date too.

I just can't think of a reason to go with a costume so influenced by classic WW in a contemporary show. How are they going to play it off in a way that isn't ridiculous?

I think they did it to entice people my age to watch the show since we watched the old show. Kind of like what they did with that Knight Rider remake.......and failed.

Well, she does have a dark side.

When Max Lord got control of Superman's mind, he tried to use him to kill Batman. So she killed him.

Superman killed three alternate-reality Kryptonians once, with the Kryptonite of their reality (didn't affect him, it wasn't his earth's version), but he did it in the defense of their earth. Batman's gone toe-to-toe with Supes before and lived to tell about it, so it can be argued Diana didn't have to kill Max Lord.

Doesn't help that her lasso renders people physically helpless and she had Lord bound. He had no physical superpowers, either. She snapped his neck.

Dark page in her history, made people a bit scared of her.

To this day, Batman hasn't really killed anyone. Well, he did toss aside his oath against firearms to shoot Darkseid with a lethal Radion bullet, but that was Darkseid, an evil god and the biggest of DCU baddies so it wasn't like Batman was on his level, he had to have some edge.

They could have picked someone who looks a bit older than 16. And somewhat self-assured. Not sure what they're going for here, but she looks insecure a bit, and I'm not really sure that's the type of character that's going to appeal to baby boomers.

Well, they would have found the spitting image of Lynda Carter if they wanted that, that's something better to avoid. Superman Returns suffered for its leanings on 70s and 80s nostalgia and casting Brandon Routh as a Reeve replacement. Well, that and it was clearly in the present day and not set in the 80s, which would have helped it make a bit more sense.

I think Christopher Nolan set the right tone for superhero stuff with Batman Begins - that franchise went its own way with setting up the world and its villains, but kept the spirit of the world and its characters intact.

Same thing with the last Star Trek movie. If they really did act just like the old actors rather than maintain the spirit of those characters in their own way, it would have been a pretty terrible movie.

I've always been disappointed with Hollywoods fear of showing any of a comic's roots for fear of losing the mainstream. Nolan has the right idea and it brings both audiences together.

Well she's pretty damn close! I don't see much difference.

Same thing with the last Star Trek movie. If they really did act just like the old actors rather than maintain the spirit of those characters in their own way, it would have been a pretty terrible movie.

I don't think it would have been terrible but it certainly would not have done as well. The reason that it wouldn't is because the Star Trek franchise has been beat to death and back and back and back.

That shot is about as unflattering as possible. I know she can't really do anything about the gainaxing but damn.

And I'm glad to see that the blue is less shitty in the second pic. That first blue is just terrible.

Agreed. The costume looks like it was bought at a walmart. That costume alone says this will only last 1 season if that. A shame too, i like the superhero movies / series.
