    Re: Star Trek (o.o)y

Might want to wait for Blu Ray versions. If the treatment Paramount gave the TOS first season is anything to go by, the eventual releases of TNG and such to Blu-Ray will probably be as good and much more fairly priced than the DVD collections.

So, does anyone know about some good deals on complete TNG and DS9 DVD sets?
In the UK the DS9 boxsets are now down to £18 from £34 per season for the 2007 slimline editions on amazonuk (I have the full 7 seasons) Its my favourite of teh Star Treks, due to its darker storylines.

We only have one theatre here where you can reserve seats. They have Ultra Screens that are 2 to 3 times the size of a regular screen and then the seat at the top are reserved. There is massive leg room...so much so that if someone comes down your row you don't have to stand to let them get through easily. The back of the seats are really tall and even my 6'2" husband's head doesn't stick up over them. There is also a drop down table between the seats so you can order a pizza and sit and eat it while you watch the movie (we did that at Star Trek). The tables and armrests fold up too so you can snuggle with your significant other while watching the movie. On the down side, you pay for such luxury. At $16 a ticket (approx 32 pounds in the UK), its rather pricey for a family or even a date. As you can imagine, the food comes at a premium price too.

Check used game/video stores for these Ray. It's how I buy them. You might have to wait a while before you can get the full set but you'll save a lot of money too. Or Ebay is a faster option and has pretty decent prices at times. But like Kitten said, they'll probably be releasing Blu versions too and if you wait till they do that, you'll really save a lot on the DVD's cause people will be selling them for the Blu version.

I was a pretty big DS9 fan, I just hated the final episode, not because of the fact it was the last one more than how they handled Dukat at the end.

Also realized Majel Barrett Rodenberry late last year. I saw the dedication at the end of the file. She died late last year to leukemia, but had yet again reprised her role as the ship's computer in this Star Trek film.

She's supposed to have her remains shot into space along with her husbands sometime this year, they already shot half of Gene Reddenberry up into space in 1997. I suppose it makes sense, but its an expensive way to go out.

Those seats sound luxorious TGM, I never got the thing with American cinemas serving up fast food, all we have normally is popcorn and sweets and drinks on sale, nothing else. the seats in lincolns cinema are basic and my shoulder are past the top (note why i take a cusion)

$16 for that luxury you are having is a bargin $16 = £10.60 and considering I have just spent £8 for a ticket ($12) for a crap uncomfortable seat.... You only get those bigger higher headrest and more leg room seats in the Huge Warner borthers cinemas, but the nearest one to me is 50 miles away!!!

Actually, Jarre, most American cinema's are just like yours. There are some luxurious ones here and there and actually is one in my city, I just didn't want to drive all the way across town to see it there when I live just miles away from a theater.

The one I ended up going to is your usual movie theater with jacked up prices on popcorn, soda and nachos. Wish I had hit the Dollar store before I went yesterday, I could have had more candy for less money.

Just saw it, and I have one thing to say that I am certain is not a spoiler: I can hardly remember if I have ever seen a movie theater actually break out in applause before.

I hit an early matinee, so I beat the crowds, but its cool to hear that kind of reaction still happens for some movies. I think the steady flow of humor in the movie helped pull people into the characters and the setting really well, its one of the first movies where I caught myself laughing out loud. I'm usually quiet about that, too. I left the theater with a big smile on my face

I don't think you could have cast anyone better for the roles of Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Uhura, and Scotty than they people they did. It was a nice mix of known actors and fresh faces, too. It was also nice to see Captain Pike have a notable role in the film. You could tell everyone involved cared about what they were doing and wanted non-Trek fans to enjoy themselves, too.

I'm pretty sure the movie theatre broke out in applause when I watched Spider Man 3. Tried to break out in applause the other day when I saw Wolverine. But yeah times when movies get applause are rare but then too I try to go to the early shows before they get crowded.

I always applaud after a good movie. Just my way of respecting the hard work and art that went into it. I'm usually either the only one that does or I am the first and others join in. LOL
