Anyone see it yet? I just saw it and .....omg........there aren't words....

Guys, do NOT take your g/f to see this film. Oh wait....maybe it would be a good thing cause she'll probably want to take you home and jump your bones!...but she won't be thinking of you!

LOL The movie really was pretty damn good I have to say. I'd have put different people in some of the roles (except Wolverine, Jackman was PERFECT....perfectly ripped too! lol). Story was decent but not cannon of course. Can't please everyone all the time. But all in all great effects, good action, decent story, and I'd pay to go watch it again.......but I'm a woman...and it could have something to do with Hugh Jackman's naked ass....

My two main concerns: How are cyclops and gambit in it? Well developed, likeable? etc.

Actually they are just BARELY in it. I won't ruin any of the show for people. Gambit has a far longer role in it than Cyclops. Cyclops has like 3 lines maybe? Personally I would have liked to see the guy that plays Sawyer on Lost do Gambit....he would have had that shit down! Gambit has always been my son's favorite character and he even said Sawyer from Lost would have been a better pick. The most character development was with Wolverine (of course) and Sabertooth.

I'm genuinely more excited for Star Trek than Wolverine as well, which is weird, because I'm more of a comics geek, but man, that last X-Men movie nearly broke me. :/

            Also, Transformers?

            Not so much? G.I. Joe.

Marvel nearly as a whole is just in a tremendous quality slump at the moment. The movies are hit or miss and when the miss they miss by a wide margin. The Wolverine movie looks and sounds like the director never learned from Batman and Robin or Spiderman 3. You just can never do enough with too many characters.

Favreu has the right idea with Iron Man and The Avengers, though. Make Iron Man central, build up the other characters through their own movies and then have them cross over and interact. X-Men is trying to do this in retrospect, but its not going to work because X-Men 3 was just a major screw-up in every way. Its hard to come back from that in the eyes of fans. They diminished the characters, treated them like cast-offs or gave them easy ways out.

I always looked at Rouge as a character with a disability. In this case, her power can bring potential harm to others, but the comic book character found a way to turn it around for the greater good and lives with its cost to her emotionally. She has to learn to love without making it physical. Instead, the movie turns her into an emotionally weak character who gives up her powers and the ability to help others for some high school nookie.

This would be like DC Comics making Barbara Gordon walk again. I don't think they'll ever do it, she's become such an amazing character as Oracle since Alan Moore had the Joker cripple her in "The Killing Joke." Plus they have a great character as Batgirl right now anyway, what would the do with a walking Barbara Gordon now when people love Cassandra Cain as Batgirl?

I think its very annoying that X-men has fucked-up just about everything except Wolverine. Can't it just be about Logan, Sabretooth, the fallout of the Weapon X project and Logan's past? That's what people want to see, but they water this stuff down to make it flashy with all these characters they just don't need in the story.

I believe the movie was 1:47 long. They should have went to like 2:15 and expanded a few things. Just a 3 or 4 min piece on some stuff would have opened the movie up more. The story was constantly rushed. But dispite its faults, and there were several, I enjoyed it. I was reading Xmen comics when I was 5 years old and seeing the characters come to life on the big screen is a thrill to me. I will say I haven't watched the previous X-men movies so I'm not "tainted" by the shit they put up prevously. This movie was exciting, the story was predictable but still interesting at times, the effects dropped the ball at times but with the action it was easy to overlook (but the geek in me was outraged), and it held my interest. I had rushed out of the house so fast that I forgot to take my meds. I didn't realize it until the previews were on and by then it was too late. Usually when this happens, I can't concentrate on the movie and the experience is ruined for me. I was expecting that. But the pain and nausea only really bothered me 3 or 4 times because I was engrossed in the movie. To me, that means it was a good movie because if it can hold my interest through a no meds period, thats something. (But I couldn't eat popcorn and that was a big letdown! ><)

Not like a huge fan of the X-men and intimate knowledge of all that went into it, but even I thought the third movie was a piece of.... The second movie had a few interesting tidbits to it, but it was still meh. The first was the best, but IMO it fell short since it felt largely like an introduction movie. Which isn't bad, it just doesn't exactly go anywhere is all.

If you rent them, the third movie really isn't worth renting at all.

And my condolences to the hubby as you go out to watch the movie for the sixth time

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

Meh, I think this would just end up being a Redbox rental for me. I've read up a bit on the Star Trek movie and based off what I learned from the prequel comic, there's good reason to be excited for it. Some people are looking at this movie as a reboot or a retcon: They don't know how wrong they're going to be, its neither.

And its neither because of one of the most popular kinds of Star Trek sci-fi twists:
                      possible spoiler

Note: You may want to come back to that spoiler section later after you see the movie if parts of it don't make sense to you. believe it or not, though, what I've put in those spoilers isn't the main plot at all. Just background stuff with some significant implications to the new movie.

If I'm not mistaken, don't they also show Wolverine in the U.S. (in his past I mean) with US troops?

Was the director a moron or just have a grudge against Canada
