Re: Transformers 2 Trailer
Just saw it, and mixed feelings about the movie.
I think it was a bit better than the first one, at least the story seemed to flow a little bit better. But at the same time I was kinda disappointed by the movie. It basically feels like they are taking whatever bits and pieces of Transformers lore they feel like and slapping it into the movie.
So let's see:
The Nemesis is crashed on some planet beyond Saturn, but no sign of the Ark? I could understand starting afresh and not doing the whole Ark and robots in a volcano thing, but then why have the Nemesis obviously crashed and broken on a planet in the solar system? Where is the Ark?
Megatron is upgraded to Galvetron due to "killing the little one" and.....?
Why the hell did they even kill the little one for parts if they have all of the parts they could need from the parts of the other dead Decepticons down there? Furthermore, wouldn't the Doctor be the, "little one"?
Why did the good Doctor sound like some Nazi scientist from some bad WWII B movie?
Ravage's break-in into the secure vault was... disappointing. While the robot he spawned was an interesting concept, I was highly disappointed by the handling of the great spy robot. Also, desert fighting, bright light, need I say more?
The Arcee triplet's holographic riders only further increases my displeasure of how the little robot handled the escape after the data hacking in Airforce 1 in the previous film.
Caspian asked why did the Cube make nothing but Decepticons, I want to know why all the newly created Decepticons had memories going beyond their tender years. Wheelie was made recently, yet knew exactly where to find Jetfire, knew what the language of the Primes was and seemed better educated than the Autobot twins.
At least it's comforting to know that any Joe Shmoe can call up a U.S Aircraft Carrier on a two way radio and have them use a top secret railgun that no one is supposed to know about. Pity the railgun is only good for one shot it seems. Oh, and another thing. If the Constructicon was made up of what, 6-7 robots, why does one shot in the chest area kill them all?
What was even the point of the big bad Constructicon if the Fallen has something akin to telekinesis?
What was the Fallen's motivation for hating the humans and declaring revenge on them anyway?
I could go on, but suffice to say that the more I think about this movie the more unhappy I am with it from a storyline view.
Frankly, how I feel about the movie?
Take Lord of the Rings, now go make a movie out of it but take out all mention of the Ring, heck maybe even take out Hobbits too. I'm sure how many of you would feel about the resulting movie is about how I feel with the Transformers movie.
At least the previews for Tim Boughton's (there's an R in there somewhere) 9, and Shylamar's The Last Airbender looked interesting. The Last Airbender I recognize as being a something though I have never seen it, although I don't know if it's a game or anime, I think anime, so I'll have to read up about it before it comes out next year.
