Came upon a prequel comic for the upcoming Star Trek movie by IDW and surprisingly, it seems to hint at some degree of the next movie having some "Next Generation" action on top of the flashbacks to the old days.
Story goes that Spock has spent the last 40 years working covertly for the Federation to aid the Romulan Underground Reunification Movement. Basically, its a movement to get Romulans to be more accepting of the galaxy around them, since they're space-faring and all.
And the planet he's made home has been the heart of the movement, Romulus is making some small strides to change and they younger generation is opening up to it.
Then a sun in one of the galaxies that Romulus mines slowly starts to go supernova, as witnessed firsthand by romulan Captain Nero and his mining crew.
Spock has kept an eye on that situation and hatches a radical plan to create black hole that would consume the nova and save the neighboring galaxies in the Romulan Empire. Captain Nero stands behind him on this plan, but the Romulan Council is skeptical and refuses the plan. You know, cuz he's Vulcan and clearly plotting against them or something.
So Spock and this Nero guy go out to execute Spock's plan anyway.
And of course, some aliens attack them along the way, mucking things up and Captain .... Data of the latest Enterprise swoops in to save them.
I don't know what that has to do with the opcoming movie, but more importantly... how is Data back. He went BEWM with a space station in Star Trek: Nemesis. They're gonna have to explain that one. Brent Spiner wrote himself out of being Data for a reason.
And then there was an ad for a prequel comic to Terminator Salvation later in the month o.o;
The Star Trek comic was good, had a nice cliffhanger so looking forward to this Terminator comic.
