Re: Paramount Inks Major Deal With Marvel Studios; Full Avengers Film Lineup Outlined

X-men 3 WOULD have been a great movie had the Studios PTB waited for brian Singer to finish Superman Returns - but no they HAD to have it out and they let that hack Rattner destroy the franchise.

Of course if Singer didn't already have a bunch of stuff on his plate - including the remake of Logan's Run (when? when?) but I still think had he been allowed to direct (and write most likely) X-Men 3 would have been great.

Cable - Wow, I would LOVE to see a Cable movie, but there is SO much to his story from Apocalypse and his time traveling/cloned/alternate reality parents/siblings etc it would be so convoluted I don't think you could tell his story in anything less than a Miniseries and even then youwould have to leave out GIANT bits of the story.

I'ds watch it tho - and how!

Back to the Avengers tho - I still hold out hope for Vision and Scarlet witch - cool powers and a great girl meets machine-boy, girl falls in love with machine-boy, machine-boys creator attempts to destory humanity plot that could be fun to watch - plus since Vision was created by a creation of Hank Pym (wasn't it, we're going way way back here) it would be a nice loop-back to the whole Ant-Man storyline.

Xmen 3 lost me when I heard they killed Cyclops.
Fuck you Xmen 3, fuck you.

Also was never as much of a wolverine fan as everyone else was. I'd still probably go see a Wolverine movie, but I doubt I'd be that impressed by it.

Justice League can work with funny. If you've read enough of the comics, Batman, Superman and Wonderwoman can do funny. It's all in the punch line.

I never really liked Hal. I liked Kyle better. After he upgraded his ring. But you can't explain that storyline without involving the death of Superman or the destruction of Costal City and Hal going Pharllax. Then you'd have to deal with Zero Hour, Identity Crisis and then Infinite Crisis part 1, then Part 2 and the whole Hal Comming back to life from being the Spirit of Vengence the Spectre. It doesn't make sense at that point.

They need a reboot, like they always do to explain how they all come together like they occasionally do with cartoons. Like the Justice League New Frontier movie, or the beginning of Justice League the cartoon in 2003 I think.

I like Justice League, and all instances of it. Well the Smallville instance is a bit messed up, since it's basically ran by Green Arrow and not the Trinity. (WW, Batman and Supes.)

          Spiderman blew it on 3.

X-men didn't blow it so much as they clearly wanted to kill the movie franchise and just start over with Wolverine, which is the current plan. Whole X-men thing kinda doesn't work well when Pheonix ends up killing almost everyone, but I will grant them focusing on Logan will probably make for a more realistic plot that's easier to develop than try to explain everything in the X-men universe properly in a few movies.

Spidy 3 was heading straight for that problem. Had they just left it at Harry as the Goblin and the Venom subplot developing Venom for later, it would have been much better, but noooooo they just had to throw the Sandman in. I must also add that Sandman isn't is cool as the DC/Vertigo Sandman.

Considering how well Batman and Spiderman do when they stick to the hero and what makes him the hero, perhaps The Avengers would be better served by these individual movies as lead-ins, after all. Beats the hell out of trying to explain Thor or Cap in the Avengers movie and keeps The Avengers a lot more clean as a film for it.

Justice League, on the other hand, needs a little work before they get a movie. They need to get on Green Lantern and The Flash after they're done with Wonder Woman. Green Arrow and Black Canary, too, but for them I'd team them up in one flick since they're a couple and play well off each other.
Spiderman 3 blew it because the studio wanted venom but the director hated him as a concept and a character. As such, he excessively changed everything to suit his needs and said to hell with the fans. Spidey 3 could have worked with both the "new goblin" and Sandman very easy, while building up the black suit/venom thing for the inevitable sequel (even if they do change everyone involved).

I doubt that will happen with any of the "Avengers project" films though, including Iron Man. Marvel is far more involved with them then they were Spidey and the guy in charge is a big Iron Man fan. I'm not too worried about any of those films. Even if they're not all the best, it's almost gaurenteed they'll be good.

Agreed. I like Wolvie and all, but the movie needed to feature all of the Xmen doing what they did best. Hell, they couldn't even keep Colossus accent and most of the mutants they used were either d-listers or completely remade. I mean seriously, could you tell which one of those mutants was Psylocke?

I agree that they should have held off on Venom. The plot was busy enough with two villains, though I didn't like the retarded direction they took Harry in (You know, the surfboard and all....)

Sandman was actually very well done, and had they simply just left Venom out until the fourth movie to use him in combination with Carnage (since Carnage is his offspring) and gotten a REAL ACTOR to play Brock, who knows. I like Sony, I really do, but god damn let Marvel (and Sam Raimi) do their own thing.

Looks like the first solid deals have been signed regarding acting and producing.

Both Robert Downey Jr. and Don Cheadle have signed on with Marvel to reprise their respective roles as Iron Man and War Machine (Cheadle is replacing Terrance Howard for IRON MAN 2). IRON MAN director Jon Favreau has also signed on to exec produce the new AVENGERS film.

The announcement of the deal also lets slip the final lineup for the Avengers team being portrayed in the film: Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Captain America, The Wasp, Giant Man, and Hawkeye. With no announced plans for another Hulk movie just yet, we'll have to wait to find out if Edward Norton will reprise his role as Bruce Banner for the Avengers film. That is, if Banner would be present at all in the story. HollywoodReporter.com...reports...that Norton "clashed with the studio over the movie's cut. It is unclear whether Norton would return."
