Re: Paramount Inks Major Deal With Marvel Studios; Full Avengers Film Lineup Outlined

    I love Cap. So much.

What I'm curious about is how many of the avengers will show up, and which ones?

I'm hoping for Hawkeye, Vision and the Scarlet Witch personally (maybe Wonder Man). Just please, spare us from Ant Man. I *loath* him :ticked off:

Also, didn't Sony do the spider man movies? Pretty sure that was done from out of their own studios, but maybe it was marvel... would explain why the 1st two rocked (2 especially) and the 3rd was pure shit.

And Iron was not "solid", Robert Downy Jr. is the best f'ing Tony Stark EVER :3 My only real disappointment with the movie was the lack of the Mandarin (and the mock tribute they made to him in the movie...)

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll toss in Spidy as a cameo (Cap, Iron Man and Spidy are my all time favorites, with Punisher as a close 4th. That last movie they did though... *pukes*)

Pretty sure since Marvel is handling it, they'll go with the original team. Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Wasp and Ant-Man. Considering they're making movies for the big 4 specifically before the release of the Avengers movie, it seems unlikely they'd make some major change to the original lineup out of nowhere.

And Sony Pictures did produce the Spider-Man movies, and they still have the rights to them, so Spider-Man 4 and 5 are not safe from what Marvel Studios has proven to offer for their films.

As pointed out, the team is supposed to be Cap, Ironman, Hulk, Thor, Antman and maybe Wasp. Most of them are getting their own movies to work out the backstories/build them all up and the Avengers will be a nice big tie-in.

The Spidey films however weren't done by marvel and hence why the last one *failed hard* (absolute horrid excuse for a film that I just can't watch again). As such, I doubt he'll ever show up in any crossovers.

And I wouldn't call what they did a "mock tribute" more of an open ended foreshadowing. The Mandarin can moniter and control his agents remotely through his ring, and could easily be the true mastermind behind the whole 10 Rings organization. I fully expect him to be in the sequel, if not then in the Avengers movie.

Which actually raises another point, who will the Avengers be going up against?

            But WHICH Ant Man?

Hank Pym? - Ant Man or Giant Man - Goliath even
Scott Lang? - Well there is the fact that he's dead
that other guy I cant remember? but was a S.H.I.E.L.D. operative and not a very nice man.

It was a mock tribute... they named themselves after the rings, and took him out of the picture completely when originally it was the Mandarin who kidnapped Stark.

And the Mandarin has more than 1 ring, and said rings are more than just rings. Of course any Iron Man fan would know this :3

As for the Cap Movie, it is equally as puzzling wondering who's going to play Cap as it is who will be Red Skull.

Re: Paramount Inks Major Deal With Marvel Studios; Full Avengers Film Lineup Outlined

Yes, I'm well aware of all of that. My point was that the Mandarin could have given the ring to the blad guy in Ironman to use as a way to watch what is happening on the front lines while still staying hidden himself. So again, it was more like open ended forshadowing, because anyone familiar with the Iron Man story would know what the hints and such meant, then a "mock tribute" because it's clear they plan to use the Mandarin himself in at least one of these films. They weren't using that guy as a "tribute" to the Mandarin, but more of an agent of the Mandarin.

Unlike the Spiderman trilogy, which literally threw away a perfect opportunity to utilize open ended foreshadowing (they specifically mention "Eddy" losing scoops to parker in Spiderman 1, yet made no use of it) Marvel is using it to their fullest strengths. Since Marvel knows it's making multiple films, it's saving the good stuff for later films, but throwing in nods and hints to things to come in current ones. I'm sure we'll see the Mandarin and I'm sure he'll be the one who created the army of the Ten Rings.

Totally agree with you there. He was always my favorite...I really wish they would make a Cable movie, but most people I know that aren't really in to comics don't even know who he is (whereas pretty much EVERYONE knows of Spidy, Superman, Cap'n America, Iron Man, X-Men, etc) so I really doubt we'll ever see one. Which is a shame

Cable is like Marvel's version of the Terminator >_>

                      A movie would be kind of cool, if they included Bishop as well. Otherwise, bleh, more time travel stories. {Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.}

Also I heard a rumor that one of the next Spider Man movies will feature both Venom (ugh, WHY did they pick Topher...) and Carnage. I only hope that if this is true ( Carnage) they do a better job of both picking talent and script writing.

Brock was awesome in the 90's Spider Man cartoon. That's the brock/venom I know and love, not the bastardization that was Spider Man 3. And if they ruin Carnage, *heads will roll*

Who's gonna play the Mandarin though? >_>

Favreau already said he didn't want to short-change fans by bringing the Mandarin into a movie more grounded in reality without the proper time and budget to explain his origin and character.

Considering he's already considering ways to bring the Mandarin into the sequel, I don't think we have anything to worry about.

Totally agree, I don't think you could do a legit Cable movie. Too much of his story is too far out there and doesn't pass into the realm of strangely possible that most comic book movies that do well, use.
It works for the comics, it even kinda works for the cartoons, but not for a major motion picture.

I just hope Iron Man can hold out and not blow it on #3.

                            Spiderman blew it on 3.

X-men didn't blow it so much as they clearly wanted to kill the movie franchise and just start over with Wolverine, which is the current plan. Whole X-men thing kinda doesn't work well when Pheonix ends up killing almost everyone, but I will grant them focusing on Logan will probably make for a more realistic plot that's easier to develop than try to explain everything in the X-men universe properly in a few movies.

Spidy 3 was heading straight for that problem. Had they just left it at Harry as the Goblin and the Venom subplot developing Venom for later, it would have been much better, but noooooo they just had to throw the Sandman in. I must also add that Sandman isn't is cool as the DC/Vertigo Sandman.

Considering how well Batman and Spiderman do when they stick to the hero and what makes him the hero, perhaps The Avengers would be better served by these individual movies as lead-ins, after all. Beats the hell out of trying to explain Thor or Cap in the Avengers movie and keeps The Avengers a lot more clean as a film for it.

Justice League, on the other hand, needs a little work before they get a movie. They need to get on Green Lantern and The Flash after they're done with Wonder Woman. Green Arrow and Black Canary, too, but for them I'd team them up in one flick since they're a couple and play well off each other.

Spider Man 3 lost me the moment they introduced Gwen and Captain Stacy, after establishing a romance with Mary-Jane and the death of Norman Osborne.
