    Yes, people, the pioneering funk singer who's "Theme from Shaft" defined an era of blaxploitation films is dead.

    The voice of Chef on South Park will be missed. As a tribute to Mr. Hayes, I'd like to present some of his better lyrics:

      So wait, I can come into the pet peeve thread and cuss up a storm but sucking on balls is inappropriate?

      Without derailing the thread, I am sad to hear that he's also died. This has been a rough weekend.

                    The lyrics aren't inappropriate. The song is about chocolate candy balls. Get your mind out of the gutter!

                    Horrible news though. Although I only knew him from his voice acting for chef, he will be missed.

                        Sorry YM, the lyrics are about candy and not what they seem to be. While it walks a fine line, I can't see it infraction worthy. Top it off with being a television show that many people under 18 watch.

                        As far as Mr. Hayes, I have special memories because of his talent so he won't be forgotten. It is a shame he's gone.

                              Kind of surprised I got reported for this, too. I mean, I've got that standing argument with 'kitten where I mock him every chance I get, cuss up a storm in several threads when people go off on positions I disagree with, and generally make an ass of myself here when I feel it's appropriate. So, I get reported for posting song lyrics... it's like busting Capone for tax evasion. Woo?

I also help mod a manga board... you haven't lived 'til you've edited a Russian's post about inserting a lightbulb somewhere while reading a futanari manga.                               Back on topic, I'll miss Chef. Even if he did go nuts and have to be written out of the series, he was a great character. Hayes was a really underrated singer/songwriter, too. If he'd written more serious subject matter, I think he'd probably be on the same level as Marvin Gaye or some of the other noted singers of his era. He was a good guy.
