I had a discussion with a friend a few months back about how despite how many females are in music, and the ratio of males:females in the general population, there are very few good female leads in good rock bands.
So far, I've only been able to come up with three, GO!GO!7188, Tokyo Jihen, and The Breeders. And Tokyo Jihen is kinda hit or miss.
Couple music videos from GO!GO! worth watching:

(yes, it's insane.)

Tokyo Jihen:
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7H0MFL2rTk]YouTube - 群é’日和 æ±äº¬äº‹å¤‰[/ame]
Breeders:
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RiJMZQXa2o]YouTube - The Breeders - Cannonball[/ame]
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7e0MDUYsLyE]YouTube - The Breeders - Huffer (live 03-07-03)[/ame]
So, anyone know of any others? Because it seems really odd that there are so few out there.
Also, anyone have any ideas as to why? Females being less inclined to become interested in Rock? Female voices being less likely to appeal to rock fans? Record label execs that either reject female leads, or try to lead them into pop?
