  • "The Deathly Hallows" Split In Two.

    IGN reports:

Harry Potter franchise producer David Heyman has confirmed recent rumors that the final tale in the wizarding series will be presented in two parts.

Heyman told the Los Angeles Times that the films will simply be titled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II.

David Yates, who helmed Order of the Phoenix and is back again for the forthcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, will direct, Heyman said.
Good. Good. Much better than cutting out half the film.

I still don't know about that. They could cut out a lot of camping in a field. That should condense things quite a bit.

I too was surpised they chose the final book to split into two movies. They could have done that with a couple of the others as well and would have seemed more appropriate.

There's two pretty clear spots where they can make this kind of break.
        Option 1

        Option 2

And uhh.. yeah. the last four books are so intense that they really needed to either be longer or split into two parts. I personally think they did a HORRIBLE job with OoTF. If the same thing happens with HBP I'm probably gonna start throwing Raisinettes.

I'm worried about HBP, simply because it's one of my favorites of the series, and I hate to see what kind of butchering they are going to do.

At the same time I am super excited, because I still enjoy the films, for the most part.

Honestly, most of the books easily had enough content for movie trilogies.

The thing that bugs me more is how old the cast is going to be by the time they get to the end of Deathly Hallows. I mean, they're going to be doing the epilogue without makeup at this rate.

I've been wondering how they were going to make a movie out of book 7 ever since I read it. Yes, there's a lot of content, but the majority of it just dialogue during a long camping trip. Dividing that up into two movies is going to be really interesting. Its going to be difficult to hold an audience's attention in two movies when the vast majority of it is just conversations. Especially when a lot of that audience haven't read the books.

Well, LOTR did well, and those movies make me sleepy. I still only remember bits and pieces. The rest of it I pretty much napped.

There is no way they can keep all of that dialogue in there. When I read the book it was an interesting read, but in a movie... Well, they will have to cut some parts out. There are just a few snippets I hope they leave in though.
