Harry potter

Ok, i know most of you are probably too old to have anything to do with harry potter, but i have a problem.

I need your help to convince me that real life is better than harry potter, i don't know what's wrong with me, and im going to sound like a psycho, but i keep watching the movies and wishing that i could be part of that world. Can i get your guys help to try and find reasons why ours is better than harry potters.....please don't make fun of me, this is kinda ruining my life.

Yeah i know i do play online games, all the time, and im waiting for FFXI, but i need a thought about why harry potter shouldnt be real, or couldnt, or somethign like that. I need someone to say something to show me that it's just a book, it's not real, and it can't be real.

4. ITS A BOOK!!!...its not real!!!...its only 'real' when you're reading it...to make it stop being real, put down the book and stop reading it!

Also, potterhelp, we cant help you by convincing you that RL is better than HP, you must do that yourself...otherwise you may never truly be yourself.

Now...

From some personal experience, I would say you need to find a replacement for Harry Potter for the time being. I myself find the series extremely enjoyable and wish it were true, but the truth is, it's a fantasy world (I'm not saying that any of that is possible or not, just that the world of HP is make-believe).

There are a couple things you could do. Some are:

1) Just change your addiction to another book series (may still be a factor in ruining your life, but may improve as well). If you chose this course, a great series you may want to read is the Dark Elf series by R.A. Salvatore. A very lengthy series and I must say that it is much better than HP, IMO.

2) Realize that although you would love to be in a world of fantasy, you can't. And if you still want to relish that world, budget your time. Set aside a time where you can enjoy the world of fantasy 100%, but realize that you must leave it for other activities that you schedule.

3) If you have an extreme case, you may actually need psychological attention (I'm not kidding). Just make sure you are always aware of where fantasy ends and reality begins. As long as you know the difference and can act accordingly, then you should not need to seek medical attention.

Well, that made me realize a lot better what i need to do Jherrith. I thought about it today a lot at school, and some things i could do to help solve it, but your ideas were much better. Thanks so much, this is really helping me out in life now Jherrith. Thanks again.

I think i'm going to try to still read the books, since they are unbelieveably (UNbelievably.....) good, but i need to realize that i'm only part of that world when i'm reading the books. And as for the movies, i as well need to realize, it's a movie, none of this stuff actually happened with the spells and what not, it was a cast and technology that did it. It was computers, that was the magic.

Thanks very much for all of you, I think I'll be much more successful with your help. I'm going to take time whenever i'm bored or angry at something, to just read the books, and think, hey that would be nice, but it can't be nice, because it isn't. Thanks so much, this really helped.

I know, you could watch The Neverending Story! .... no, wait... that would probably worsen things. :sweat: As it's been said, I think you just need to realize that Fantasy is called Fantasy for a reason - it's not real. All those people who say "Harry Potter books are evil tools of the devil!" should stop and try saying any of those magical spells that they say in the book. Watch and revel in the fact that absolutely nothing happens, other than you inevitably looking like a dork. :p It's one thing to have an imagination, it's another to ignore reality completely. Bottom line is you can't escape reality forever. Good luck with your crash back to the real world!
