When did she say all that?

Maybe it was just to throw folks off.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows discussion thread (MAJOR SPOILERS, DUH)

So I'm up to the part where they're looking for the last thing.

      Getting kind of tense.

But I definitely was on page 400 wondering where the fudge the story was going.

not a fan of the fact that this story has been stretched unnecessarily through the seasons the way it has.

Going to make a terrible movie.

I think the movie for the 7th book might be in two parts, there is a LOT of meat in this one, I guess she wanted to finish up loose ends? :-/

      Oh, I responded without reading the post. I looked on Wikipedia for some information about wands and read much more than I needed to. Like when I looked at the last page to see how much further I had to read in the book.. Didn't like what I glimpsed I saw ; ;

WishMaster, don't read this thread, it will ruin it for you.

And the book is much better when you've actually read through the whole thing, without spoilers.

I meant the last page of the book when i was getting the page number. Your first post pretty much explained the expectations. I'm trying to finish the damn thing so I can join in on the discussion and NOT read 7 pages of comments.

I finished the book on the 22nd @ 2:00 AM lol, I thought it was Amazing~ All the stuff I thought was great has pretty much been talked about already, such as the acceptance of death, Mrs W. vs Bellatrix, Snape, and the Epilogue.

I kinda didn't like the semi-blank spot of them jumping through the countryside though. Just seemed to have random spurts and then near the end of the school year flew back into the full story... IMO

I really liked the Kings Cross Station chapter, Really tied up a bunch of loose ends. ^^ And the Resurrection Stone part right before that was great as well.

Hmmm... I know Draco isn't Good perse, but I think he may be Better than his dad in the Epilogue. Lots of Acknowledgment or something at least.

I personally hope that she'll do something else with this world she created, though not personally having to do with HP (maybe just a side mention that his quidditch team is first world wide with him leading it as best seaker =p) I personally would read it, despite the fame of JKR right now.

            Yay, Ty for this Eohmer~

Personally, I kinda wonder if Harry is still such a great wizard, and if he can speak parseltongue, without being a horcrux.

Especially given that Ron somehow managed to learn to speak to snakes somewhat, I wonder if he held on to that or not.

I liken the Malfoys as a whole to Snape: not good, but certainly not heartless evil. Draco has redeeming qualities in him, he craved power, but not at the costs that individuals like Voldemort or Lestrange were willing to pay. Draco, in the end, was just a kid who cared for his parents, and didn't want to see them harmed. Same with his parents, they were mean people, certainly prejudiced, that wanted power and prestige, but stripping it all down all they really cared about was their son, which ended up redeeming them, if only for a bit.

I don't think of Harry as ever having been a "great" wizard, at least, not in the same sense as Dumbledore or Voldemort, gauging talent. It was more he seemed to have an understanding and perseverance that was capable of trumping even those with raw talent, but lacked wisdom. In any case, I tend to think his Parseltongue abilities might have stayed with him, even after the destruction of the Horcrux within him. I think the connection between the two of them, over time, perhaps ran deep enough to imprint that on Harry permanently.

As for Ron, I thought he explained that he kind of stumbled into the Parseltongue he spoke that opened the Chamber. If I recall, he just tried a bunch of different hissing sounds until one of them worked.

If Rowling is going to write something, maybe she'll come out with Hogwarts, A History. I'd totally read that. Otherwise, I'm with Kirst.

He mentioned specifically that he was imitating Harry - which would mean that it's possible to learn it, to some extent.

Oh yeah, now That would be awesome.

Edit: Just remembered a huge inconsistency between the 5th movie & if they're going to have it in the 7th movie, the Room of Requirement lol, blasting into it, Impossible as explained in the 5th & 7th book, guess they're going to have fun covering that one up or else explain it. =p

I want to create a spoof called Harry Putter, featuring some kid on a golf club zooming in the air and featuring cameos from Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia and also the voice of Nicole Kidman portraying the rehabilitated career criminal frog named Hogwirth.

I think it was a good book, and unlike so many other endings of decent series', it ended well. I've been reading Harry Potter for a WHILE (holy shyt, since 7th grade.. and I'm going to my 3rd year of college...) and I dread the way a lot of writers generally destroy their universes, but JKR did a great job.

Granted, half the book seemed to be about being on the run, while the other half was just the last WEEK of the story (Gringotts and onwards, perhaps?), but JKR has a knack for pacing. While the Forest and the Running seemed to drag, it was actually decently moved, and for the length of time that it was, she gave enough details for it.

Whereas the more interesting parts of the story (LOTR @ Hogwarts) were in great detail and were the Meat of the story. She succeeded where some ppl could have failed, and I'm glad to say that the story definitely held together.

Relax, I'm not poking fun at anyone except at the author's own expense. Besides, I'm more of a Stephen King / <insert any classic philosopher in here> kind of person.
