uh, death isn't a reason to rate something R, it's high levels of violence.
and really, I feel that Rowling treated the deaths rather well, some of it was dark and depressing, but there wasn't anything truly horrible about them. If anything, as I said above, I think it could help some kids with death- see that just because someone is dead doesn't mean you should feel sorry for them, and you shouldn't constantly live in fear of dying either.
