No point really except for making something bigger because they can, and it isn't aimed for the mass market anyway.

I don't think the HD standard will go beyond 1080p for the time being, and it will be like 5 or more years before it really takes off anyway, so upgrading so soon would never appeal to the general public.

Only cellphones (and Ipods maybe?) can pull off that kinda stuff really.

Yeah, HD standard won't go to 1080p for another 2-3 years, so 2160p? It'll be another 10-15 years, I'd say. Especially with current models retailing at $50,000.

I personally find HDTV incredibly pointless- there's gotta be at least a hundred other things that you could change to make your TV better before you do that.

High res monitors are incredibly useful though- I honestly wish I could afford to do better than the crappy monitor i've got.

I was willing to spend the full $2199 for my TV, but thankfully I found it open-box for $1299 and negotiated it down to $1125.

Just imagine how expensive a high-end 2160p monitor would be. Westinghouse makes some of the cheapest HD sets out there.

That said, damn you Pai Pai >. > $1125 for a 1080p TV? I freaking wish, especially since I plan on buying a PS3 soon. Luckily Futureshop has financing options where I can pay around $90 or less a month for a really nice 40" 1080p. The catch is I'll end up paying more in the end thanks to god damned interest ; ;

That was a nice deal, I ended up buying a 32" 720p display because I just couldn't find anything I liked.

So maybe in a couple of years this place will get decent 1080p displays and I'll be able to get something I like. I just wish US shops would ship electronics to mx.
