    Re: Transformers Movie

There isn't a lot of joking in action movies, or else they would call them comedies. I don't mind comedy, but they devoted over half the movie to the comedic and light hearted aspect of protecting the planet from evil robots. That's too much.

I thought it was the right mix. The main storyline is Dark with a capital D. It needed some lighter moments, otherwise it'd risk becoming campy and less believable.

I can't remember very many action movies that don't have a good bit of comedy in it, but thats just me >.>

I didn't really think this was going to be an "action" movie anyway so I guess I wasn't let down. I just thought is was going to be a transformers movie and that's what it was. Its been a long time but I remember that there was comedy in the show when I watched it way back when.

Its all good though, you can't like everything. We'd all be "normal"

        Yeah I said "normal"

        Makes you cringe doesn't it?

I get the impression that Dak was determined to dislike the film no matter what. Which is cool. He doesn't have to like it.

I did, which is all I'm really concerned about.

What makes me cringe is your avatar. >_>

I know an action movie that doesn't have comedy in it; The Transporter 2. It's the worst movie ever. Someone actually says "I'm sorry, you've been cancelled." Wtf.

I'm going to see Transformers soon, I hope it's as good as everyone says. I've never been too into Transformers, Beast Wars ftw.

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

Yes, you liked the movie, we all get it. Thank you for making sure everybody knows what Murphie thinks even though nobody asked.

Judging by the trailers and commercials I believed it would be a movie I would like. The militaristic parts were the only parts I could get into. All the scenes where they wasted time joking around or had robot UFC fighting matches didn't do much for me.

That was the entertaining parts of the movie..without the fighting and the comedie parts the movie would of just been boring...and lame.

I am starting to feel the same way. I was like allot of you guys as well. I went into the movies trying to forget about the cartoons i grew up on. An actually i was very pleased with the movie. To me it did the cartoons from the 80's right. Even as far as pulling off classic cartoon moments as well.

The only problem i had with the movie was introducing a character so late in the movie. An then rolling with them til the end. It also added a couple extra comedy scenes. Which i felt didnt fit right in the movie.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

                    Re: Transformers Movie

I haven't been to a movie theater in a year or two, due to my lack of interest in seeing most movies nowadays. Not this one. My god, I had fun seeing this, especially with my friends. Most of the action segments blew me away and left me in suspense, and I especially loved the comic relief, because it made me laugh my ass off as much as everyone else did.

Although I've only seen the first (and possibly second) season(s) of Beast Wars, I eventually caught on with the original series' basic plot since my friends were casual Transformers fans. Regardless of my lack of Transformers franchise knowledge, I left the theater very satisfied.

                    Also, three words:
read if you've already seen the movie, otherwise you won't laugh as hard as I did upon seeing this quote.

                      Re: Transformers Movie

                      I just finished watching it.

For the purist, this movie is Transformers in name only. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the movie. It is a good action movie; explosions, shoot-outs, car chases and oodles of special effects. Solid, predictable formula with predictable (good) results.

                      Thanks Yyg!

Well technically, no one asked what you thought either. Why the withering sarcasm?

Actually, I myself was bound and determined to dislike the movie, but on the recommendation of an LS member, I gave it a chance.

I'm glad too, that is just the sort of film that makes visiting a theater worthwhile.

I don't like how the robots look and transform. There are so much tiny organic parts inside their vehicle shell they when they transform, they look so random... almost like the smaller inner parts can extend to fill the gap no matter how you move their outter parts.

When the robots were made of big pieces, like the original comic, I think you really need to give a lot of thought into how they transform because every piece will have to move exactly into their places. I liked it a lot more that way.
There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

I'm kind of with you on this. Some of the robot designs seemed alien and unusual just for the sake of being alien and unusual. Which I never appreciate.
