"Waah! Waaah! Pay attention to meeee!" -Micheal Moore
Re: "Waah! Waaah! Pay attention to meeee!" -Micheal Moore
The problem is already nearly intractable, and absolutely without any possibility of a perfect solution.
Well, like how democracy is far from a perfect system of government, it's still better than the alternatives, public owned and operated health care is far from perfect, but it's better than the alternatives.
It is crazy to think rich and poor alike can call emergency services and get treated equally by the fire department, the police department but not the health department. Could you imagine fire trucks ignoring uninsured fires? Police ignoring uninsured murder victims? It's obvious why these services (police, fire) are under government control, and medical emergencies should be no different.
I'm just pissed that Moore made this argument in his typical overzealous way, and now all people will do is talk about politics in Cuba and France while ignoring the reality of the situation.

I thought I made it clear that I was being sarcastic. Hence, me rolling my eyes at the end of the post (and I used text because that rolling eyes emoticon makes it seem like I'm amused, which I'm not).

Who are you kidding you think the police treat everyone the same? wake up man wake up. How much longer do you think it takes the fire department to get to the "poor" neighborhoods than a rich one? Hospitals wont change at all with healthcare reforms, my roomate was in a car accident with no health insurance and the guy who hit him's insurance didnt cover the expenses and yet the hospital still treated him and kept him for over 2 weeks with no way to pay the bills. In Missouri its law that a hospital must treat you for anything that could become life-threatning and then there is a second law that allows you to not pay the hospital until you have the means too. Which is the only way my friend is getting out of his $100,000 in medical bills. I agree that the system needs to be changed but not by some team of government officials thats going to sit down and decide what is included in a the universal health care plan.
On the other hand lets say we did adopt a universal health care plan, you all do realize it doesnt cover all medical expenses and only the basics. Not to mention waiting times and quotas, and what if what's detailed in the plan doesnt work for you or you just plain dont like the program your on? well its back to square one with having to pay for health care out of pocket.
