I agree, for some reason that's the kind of Hip Hop normal people are seeing and hearing. No one taks the time to notice that the music didn't start off this way, and there are many great artists who are pointed in a more positive, less idiotic direction. But, if you really wanna make the big bucks today, you have to talk about the stupid stuff, truth be told.

Er, my post wasn't about dissing your opinion, which is why I added my little disclaimer. This is a thread for us to discuss Hip Hop and I was doing just that.

Also, Cassidy being a great lyricist is a joke.
I hope your kidding. Listen to all of cassidys freestyles and remixes and just songs in general. Even in his big singles his lyrics are lyricly insane. (I'm a Hustla)

Outerspace is great. If you go onto your Violent By Design album and listen to "I against I" he's in that. Search Jedi Mind tricks on Myspace Music and look in their top friends since he'll be there. By the way, I only heard Gza in "On the eve of war" by JMT so far, but he has one of the best rapping voices around.

Hmmm, I'll go do that right now, thanks for the recommendation. Oh, and If you really liked GZA's style, go out and cop Liquid Swords. It's his sophomore album and it's crazy. I'd rank it right up there next to Illmatic no joke!

I know exactly who Cassidy is. I've heard many of his verses, like when he was on Smack DVD beefin' with Murda Mook and Cyssero. I actually thought he was okay...for the stuff he talks about, he's alright.

He's got his little punchlines and that's cool, but he certainly doesn't deserve to be on the top list above people who've been in the game for decades; who didn't get famous from dissin'. At the end of the day, wouldn't you rather have some shit you can go home with? Where's the lyrical substance? I've heard his singles, and I'm a Hustla is the same dime-a-dozen stuff other dudes are putting out.

I'm down with MC Chris. Anyone? Anyone?

          ------

I can't say that I like or dislike the hip-hop/rap genre, I mean I don't actually know that many artists or anything. I do know there are a lot of weak ass rappers out there that get sponsored by their label so they can be thrown up on the Music Television to appeal to today's idiot teenager.

I tend to find songs that have a nice beat, rhythm and flow to it appealing. One such song that I have loved since the day I heard it is "Suntoucher" by Groove Armada. Damn... I gotta find that song so I can listen to it.

Mc Chris is cool, I remember enjoying his Boba Fett rap. Doesn't he do the voice for Mc PeePants on ATHF? He's awesome either way.

And @ Konky, just got done listening to I against I. Very nice track, I liked Outerspace's lines alot. Currently browsing his albums right now

Dawg, I'm a Hustla is definatly not the same shit. Yeah, it is BASED on the same shit but the lyrics are insane if you hear how he presents them.

I think his career started in Sealab. Shame all his music is about drugs and being stupid.

You're right. Not a single one of his songs is about anything at all other than those two topics you mentioned. You completely hammered out his entire career.

I can understand where you're coming from, being a fan of his and all, but It doesn't change anything, really. Bad, uninspired lyrics are garbage, the delivery changes nothing at all.

Oh well, atleast I tried to keep this thread going. I've basically given up since no one has anything positive at all to add.

Another failed Hip Hop thread on this forum >< Go figure.

Vinnie Paz from JMT seems to have his fingers in many pies. He's in another rap group called Army of the Pharaohs. Notable song is "Battle Cry". Download.
